Portuguese breakfasts are full of tradition. So are the lovely streets around us. One of these traditions is to ask for the bill only to have one last bica. That’s how we named our café e conta shirt. Thanks for creating the nice visual ☕️🧾

Together with Sara Marques we made a shirt about freedom. Freedom to be yourself. Freedom to love. And we believe this freedom starts inside yourself. With a feeling to dance like nobody is watching. Go bananas, close your eyes, lift your arms and let your energy move your entire body to find your freedom.

BARBARA made the first sheet that we almost didn’t want to turn into a shirt. The elaborate details that we can see on her craft came from the minimum modification of the environment and materials for a maximum creative effect. A patient gesture of archiving all leaves and plants from around her studio that she had used for previous compositions over the past year, of assembling them one by one on our sheets. The finishing touches happened in her darkroom, painting the sheets carefully with the minimum cyanotype ink, before its final exposure to the UV of the sun. And boom, a vibrant explosion of blue jungle life visualised on a sheet and, yes we did it, eternalised into a unique CURA BY THE SEA shirt.

One big beautiful chaos. That’s what it was, what it is and always will be. And we love all of it. Cintia had a vision, turned it into designs and together with Maria Boavista we screen printed it on a wild Wednesday in July. Fond memories and unique shirts is what remain. It was messy, but Cintia (and Maria) for sure knew what they were doing. 🌈 🐶🌷🫏

Back from a little break 🤭 And there is no better way to start again, than with our QA sessions to get to know the story behind our artists better. This time it’s Rachel her turn. Mother, artist and kind friend. Having some of her artwork hanging on our walls, we were happy we asked her if she wanted to collaborate so we could also wear her art outside our house :)

Auntie Fernanda is a shirt with a family story. Jo her aunt has been embroidering all her life. With her 86 years, there is no Portuguese traditional design she hasn’t touched. And while auntie Fernanda has lost part of her sight, this shirt is a clear example that memory and experience still enables you to create art based on feeling and touch.

It’s time for some rock and roll. We really love the details of this shirt made in collaboration with Atelier Sincero. Extra button at the top. Rounded collars. And patches stitched with a zigzag pattern. We know Dede always smiles, but like to think this shirt brought an extra big smile on his face while shooting with us.
