Bolia Design Awards 2015 Entry

Showcase proposes a collection of two tables: a coffee table and a side table. It was aimed to project tables that could offer storage space with easy access and easy visibility. The other aim, was to have the storage space always visible to the user.

Concerning this last requisition, glass was the obvious choice, to be used in contrast with wood, in this case, versions with Oak in natural or color versions and Walnut.
The Show Case Tables are designed to have a simple assembly, without compromising its resistance or even its aesthetics. The legs fit in the table top, from bellow and are fixed from bellow with screws. The Glass just lands over the wood table top.

The formal language its inspired by Nordic lines but it’s also the result of a intention to compliment this contrast between transparency/texture and light/shadow.
The color range is wide, providing different choices, whether the client is looking for a sober piece of furniture in natural wood, or looking for powerful presence in the living room, with a pastel color.

The glass may as well combine different color shades, in order to provide a final color detail to the table. For now only colorless glass and brown/copper shaded glass are considered.

Bolia Design Awards 2015 Entry

“Sketched” is a wide chair, with a minimalist language created to give the idea of pure light, pure forms and softness.

The origin of its name comes from the stitching lines that divide the several surfaces of the armchair. This gives the idea that they were sketched guidelines of the chair.
It’s a solid chair, heavy for stability but very soft in appearance and touch.
A main frame in wood on the base composes the initial shape and lowers the gravity center of the chair. The unions in metal plate are made to help with the round shaped corners and to improve the chair’s stability. This technical concern is only a semi-final proposal.

On the top, about 3 layers of foam compose the seat and the back rest. The last foam layer covers all the chair, in order to give a soft touch to the armchair.
Considering its already unconventional language as a chair, it was decided to give a sober color options from grays to browns.

The “sketched” lines are in white/light gray in order to give a contrast with the body colors. This aims to give an idea of line outside the body, like a fast sketch, made in fast hand moves. Its language has the purpose to be expanded to a small collection of seats.

Petra
Bathtub

Petra is a round bath tub that shows the contrast between soft surfaces and raw material, in order to create the idea of an unfinished object. It aims to have a rough look, yet, elegant at the same time.

Petali
Bathtub

Petali purposes an alternative aesthetics to the Bathtub. It was intended to find a shape that could provide alternative space for storage or other object to aproach (small furniture).

The result is an elegant, sculptural bathtub, flower shaped, with the possiblity to include a whirlpool bath system that is developed underneath it. It is projected to be prouduced by a single mold.

Nido
Bathtub

Nido is the result of an attempt to "destroy" the bathtub. The goal was to find the most rational shape that could answer all the needs in a bath, and ocuppy any kind of space in the bathroom (a corner, near the wall, at the center)

As a result it is a very polyvalent tub, that can work as regular shower or a low bathtub, a small shelter where the user can relax seated under running water. The same shape was used to project a sink.

The Margaret project is born with the idea create a new model for Rolls Royce that would mix an classic “silhouette”, with contemporary lines that still respect the brand’s image.

The concept aims to recreate the classic four door from the 40’s / 50’s: A long front contrasting with a short back, making the central volume look smaller and “pushed” to the back. As a result, the car looks fast and sporty, being still a four door.

This project aims as well to find a younger image to the Rolls Royce vehicle. The purpose is to fit the Rolls Royce range to a younger market, communicating its tradition with a younger design language.
The bold design with soft surfaces provides a younger look to the car, but the classic Rolls Royce features are still present: a robust body, the big front grill and the chromed details are the main examples of this intention.
The bicolor option is the bridge between traditional vehicles and contemporary vehicles. Thanks to the simple design, both traditional and vivid colors are considerable.

The presentation colors schemes are the metallic grey/blue + platinum silver, for a traditional look, and a dark metallic red + bright white for a younger image. The interior is still under development.
