MISSOM® proudly presents the Dinâmica drumsticks, created along with João Dias , thinking on classical orchestral musicians and jazz drummers, made of Ipê wood, carefully matched by weight and sound, finished with natural bee wax (MISSOM® eco-friendly). The density of the Ipê wood, associated with its small tip and thin shoulder, provide a clear and bright sound on the cymbals and excellent articulation and rebound.

João Tiago Dias was born in Oliveira de Azeméis,1986. He’s is a percussionist, licensed and with Master’s degree at ESMAE, on Miquel Bernat, Manuel Campos and Nuno Aroso class, has a doctorate degree in Musical Art - Music Performance at FSCH of UNL and ESML and currently has a scholarship at FCT.

As performer, he has dedicated great part of his time with Drumming Grupo de Percussão (DGP) since 2004, a group founded in 1999 that since their foundation, they’ve been asserting themselves has one of the most important collectives dedicated to contemporary music. With DGP he has an active role as performer, but also as a mediator in collaborations with composers in the process of creating new musical works and new projects for the group, having premiered several composers works from numerous nationalities. With this same group he has participated in the recording of 8 albums dedicated to the percussion works of renowned composers, and 3 more apart from the group.
He integrated in the European Union Youth Orchestra between 2006 and 2009, where he worked under the direction of pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy with tutoring from Rainer Seeguers, timpanist of the Berliner Philharmoniker and Simon Carrington, timpanist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2016 he creates “Caixa Elétrica”, a solo projected dedicated to disseminating Portuguese music for percussion, in and out of Portugal, has he did in one of his presentations at the Darmstadt Summer Course in 2018. Also in 2018 he gets support from the “Criatório” (a supporting platform for artistic creation from Câmara do Porto) to create a new solo project: DiRE-SoNo: “Discursos de (R)Evolução do Som no Espaço”, a project oriented for the creation of new music involving and mediating a collective of 5 composers with the performer.
He’s a researcher at GIMC (Grupo de Investigação em Música Contemporânea) do CESEM, where he dedicates to the mediation/collaboration between composer and performer in the creation of new music.
He’s a member of Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble and collaborates with Sonoscopia Associação, Remix Ensemble, OSP Casa da Música, Orquestra Gulbenkian, among others. He’s also a teacher at Universidade de Aveiro.

XILOFONE CIRCULAR - The Xilofone Circular is an instrument generally used as a sound effect, not having therefore no specific technical ex*****on. This instrument can be played in different ways: with a stick or even with a small ball inside, causing it to spin and excite all blades in a cyclical fashion. This instrument was designed focused in some desired effects in contemporary repertoire, with his standard model produced with eight blades of selected rosewood and a octagonal sounding board in birch plywood. The instrument is sold with a hard stick and two balls of different hardnesses, one in wood and one in cork. Dimensions: base octagonal eight blades of different dimensions.

Rafa Mas López was born in Castelló de la Ribera (Valencia) and studied in the Conservatories of Music of Valencia, Sevilla, Madrid and Amsterdam.
He collaborated with orchestras such as Sinfónica de Tenerife, Sinfónica de Galicia, Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Cadaqués Orchestra, Granada Orchestra, Radio Kamer Orchestra (Netherlands), Comunitat Valenciana Les Arts Orchestra, etc… He also worked with distinct contemporary music groups, highlighting the Grupo Círculo, Ensemble Xenakis (Netherlands), Sax Ensemble and with David Mata and Emilio Robles, he created the group Modus Novus.

He works frequently with the Andrés Segovia Orchestra, where he performed with artists like Lang Lang, Maria João Pires, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Janine Jansen e Anne Sophie Mutter.

As soloist, on the “Festival Internacional des Musiques d’Aujourd’hui” of Strasbourg, he premiered the Concerto for Marimba and 15 Instruments of David del Puerto, the Concerto for Five Percussionists and Orchestra of Toru Takemitsu, and Prism Rhapsody II of Keiko Abe, with the RTVE Orchestra. On his hometown, he premiered the Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra of Miguel Franco in 2015, and recently performed with the Banda Municipal de Sevilla has a Timpani soloist. With Javier Eguillor, during the 2017-18 season of O.S. de RTVE, he interpreted the “Concerto Fantasy for two Timpanists and Orchestra” of Philip Glass. On the 1018-19 season, he performed at the premiere of the same piece, with the same timpanist, a band version with Banda Municipal de Madrid.

He also has a vast teaching activity and was a teacher on various summer courses, at JONDE, Región de Murcia Orchestra, Jovenes de la Comunidad de Madrid Orchestra, Castilla-León Joven Orchestra.
Along with Juanjo Rubio and Juanjo Guillem e created the Neopercussion project. Was a teacher in Musikene (Centro de Estudos Superiores del Pais Vasco) and on Escuela y Conservatorio Municipal Manuel de Falla de Alcorcón, from 1987 to 2014. Since that year he began teaching at Madrid’s OKHO Academy, were he still continues teaching.

Currently is a timpani soloist at RTVE Orchestra and also composes for percussion, having won the first prize on the Composition Contest “Vacantes Percutantes 2011” in Marmande (France).

He designed a signature drumstick model with renowned brand MISSOM® from Portugal and also has a drumstick model from the brand Jeff Percussion, also a dealer of MISSOM®.
