So sad to hear of the passing of the incredible Hilary Alexander OBE. I had the pleasure of crossing paths with her as a student and then later on working with her several times at GFW and she was one of the most passionate, driven, and endearing characters I had come across in the industry. She also loved my designs which is probably the biggest compliment you can get. ❤️🙏🏻What a huge loss to GFW and the entire fashion industry. RIP Hilary, the original trailblazer. ✨

We work hard to make GIKOU as sustainable as possible, in as many ways as we possibly can. From design consideration, material choices and manufacturing processes, to our use of local partnerships and ensuring fair wages across the whole supply chain. Of course this doesn’t stop with our packaging!
 
We are very proud of our ‘Leave No Trace’ selection of packaging which we have researched and worked very hard to create. Every item of our packaging has a temporary lifespan and is kindest to our planet. 🌍
 
The outer mailing bag, address label and GIKOU sticker are all fully biodegradable and compostable in your regular household food waste bin - no need for specialist compost requirements! ♻️
 
The transparent garment bag and fixing tape are magically soluble in hot water, contain no micro-nasties and pose no harm to the environment when entering the water system. ✨
 
The GIKOU postcards are constructed using plantable paper, which when planted turn into beautiful wildflowers, which we find very special. 💐

We are really proud of our packaging solutions and like to encourage our customers to perform this as a little happiness and gratitude ritual! 🖤
 
Whilst we recognise how much work there is to do in this industry, we take a holistic approach to sustainability and consider every area of impact our work creates, whilst doing all we can to make a difference. We know this matters to our customers and we know it matters to us! 💫

If this last year has taught us anything, it’s to hold on to your individualism, your uniqueness and all the special things that make you, you. When everything is stripped away what is it that makes your knowing indestructible? How does your identity persevere through all of life’s twists and turns? For me it’s the undeniable sense of likes, tastes, styles and preferences. Whether that’s through clothes, cuisine, art, music and culture, people and personality traits...or just the instinctive choices I make and paths I take. We may grow and develop, almost completely unrecognisably to outsiders. The world might throw us some gigantic curveballs but deep down... we always truly know who we are. 🖤
