Some pieces we have worked on lately in the studio….

Pin tuck gather top (image 1/2): some sort of hybrid between the from my book with gathered panel and neck detail from the pattern. Made using sheer linen with pin tucks and wide binding detail on neck and hems. This one took ages to make, but it was worth it! (Sold)

Curve Top (image 3/4): made using the pattern from my new book in Japan, (book info in previous post). Made using sheer linen with binding in neck. Also worn with Pleat Skirt, , pattern from same book, made using organic cotton shirting. (Sheer top has been sold)

Top with slits (image 5/6): this is also some sort of hybrid between the ZW soft blouse and ZW Tee. Made using vintage fabrics it has a gathered sleeve hem, neck bind and back slit with button plus high side slits on the body.

ZW Gather Dress (image 7/8): made using vintage hand woven fabric in the bodice with a mix of cotton fabrics in the skirt. The top is slightly modified from the zwgatherdress pattern to accommodate the fabric panel with a wider sleeve and longer bodice length.

None of these made it online as they are one off pieces, dm or email for more ✨

This book includes zero waste designs by myself and designers Liz Haywood and Danielle Elsener with instructions and templates included to make 19 different garments with zero waste patterns, put together by with publisher

This book is only available in Japanese currently but it has very thorough diagrams and instructions for those that already have some experience with zero waste patterns and sewing.

A little note on sizing that I didn’t mention last time! As it is for the Japanese market the sizing goes up to around a size XL, but many of the patterns are adaptable to sizing up further 🌻

Long Spring coat made using cotton twill for the outer and light weight stripe cotton for the lining ✨ This is a piece we have as a made to order item in-store

This pattern is from my book Sewing with Scraps, it is the Workwear Jacket with the coat collar and added length to the body with welt pockets. I also added a split at the center back hem and a feature seam on one sleeve ✨

My new pattern in the latest issue of TAUKO magazine! Nordic Summer issue 19, The CREST top and dress 🌻

This design is a size inclusive zero waste pattern suited for many different fabric widths. It has a curved shoulder, high neck with binding, and split and tie closure at the center back. There are casings and long ties on the shoulders, sleeves and front waist, allowing you to adjust the fit to your preference. The body length is easy to adjust on the pattern and it works beautifully in light weight cotton, linen, silk and viscose.

This pattern is included in the latest issue of TAUKO magazine, filled with many other amazing designs! Alternatively you can also purchase it individually as a PDF pattern via , or link in bio ✨

Some pieces from the new book being released in Japan in May ✨ here I am wearing the …

Panel Tee - made using a 110cm wide fabric this one is a boxy shape with short sleeves that features panels on the side which is what allows the pattern to be made in different sizes.

Pleat Skirt - made here using a 130cm wide fabric it has pleats and side pockets and side splits. Something very cool about this design is that the exact same pattern layout can make a pair of wide leg pants by simply sewing the pieces together differently.

A little note on sizing that I didn’t mention last time! As it is for the Japanese market the sizing goes up to around a size XL, but many of the patterns are adaptable to sizing up further 🌻

Last weekend I had the pleasure of holding a zero waste patterns workshop in Glimåkra, thank you at for such a fun day 🥰

We looked at ways of making clothing with hand woven fabrics using zero waste patterns and played around with different zero waste shapes that work well for narrow fabrics and with minimal seams. We tested first using second hand sheets and looked at different ways some of the patterns in my book could be adapted. I also brought along some pieces I have been working on lately using some vintage hand woven textiles, including this with a hand woven panel in the bodice, with the only cut line being the center front/ front neck, the skirt is added using several different light weight cottons patchworked together, looking forward to finishing this one during the week!

Although I do not weave myself my grandmother did a lot and so being in spaces like this always feels very nostalgic and special for me. I inherited my grandmothers floor loom many years ago and I really hope to one day have the time and space to set it up and start learning and experimenting ✨

I have a new pattern in the latest issue of TAUKO magazine! Nordic Summer issue 19 🌻

The CREST top and dress is a size inclusive zero waste pattern suited for many different fabric widths. It has a curved shoulder, high neck with binding, and split and tie closure at the center back. There are casings and long ties on the shoulders, sleeves and front waist, allowing you to adjust the fit to your preference. The body length is easy to adjust on the pattern and it works beautifully in light weight cotton, linen, silk and viscose.

Here I am wearing the top in a cotton poplin showing you two looks, pulled in tight for a fitted rouched look, and with the ties left loose for an oversized vibe.

My new pattern the is now available as both paper workbook and pdf. This zero waste pattern is suited for many different fabric widths and works beautifully in light weight linen, cotton and silk. It has a curved armhole and sleeve head, a wide boat neck with binding, gathered sleeves, and side splits.

It is also available as a ready made garment in several colours with only one left in this silk crepe de chine dot print, size L-2XL, online and in-store The Cloth Lab

This fabric has a special history and is the very last piece we had. The artwork was made by my daughter many years ago in Melbourne when she was 4, she was at my studio with me and had found my good posca pens without me knowing and started bashing them onto a piece of A4 paper to make lots of coloured dots, when she showed me I thought it was so amazing we had it turned into a fabric print!

The top is worn here by my beautiful friend Nastassia, in a size L-2XL
