The Swedish fashion industry 2019 in numbers - towards the new normal!

At the launch of the new statistics report the report showed great results - Swedish fashion’s turnover for 2019 was 380 billion with a 272 billion to export, which means that fashion export represents 11 % of the total export from Sweden.

Thank you to our panel with the Swedish Minister of Enterprise Ibrahim Baylan, Fashion Industry Expert Lena Patriksson Keller, McKinsey Partner Rickard Vallöf and STICA and Sustainable Fashion Academy CEO Michael Schragger for being part of moderated by SFAs Secretary General Catarina Midby.

We’re back! Vogue exclusively announcing the digital return of Stockholm Fashion Week 2021.

“Sweden is a European leader in technology and innovation, and fashion is one of the country’s largest exports, perhaps it’s inevitable the two would come together. “Now it’s time to look forward; now it’s time to promote Swedish fashion again and I think we have a unique position,” Midby tells Vogue.

Swedish Fashion Weeks goes virtual.

Rewiring Fashion is calling out for a reset of the current fashion calendar! Pictured above is a new fashion calendar that takes timing of markets and shows, buying periods and product deliveries into consideration. Visit rewiringfashion.org to read more and sign the petition.

The intiative wishes to:
Combine men’s and women’s fashion weeks to take place in January/February and June to enable longer full-price sell-through periods, minimise travel requirements and de-gender fashion week.

Align fashion shows, collection deliveries and real-world seasons so shows take place just before weather-appropriate collections hit stores.

Synchronise next season buying periods with current season presentations to cut back on travel.

The intention here is to come up with a system that works for all, no matter how big or small your fashion business is. Visit rewiringfashion.org to read more, and to sign the petition.
