No we have not started selling cheesecakes!
This custom piece was made for a bride to present her wedding gifts to the groom. It is a customary tradition in a Malay wedding for the bride and groom to exchange gifts, called Hantaran. The bride wanted a minimalistic piece that would be versatile enough for all the gifts she had in mind. But we too had something in mind, we cheekily borrowed it for a photoshoot, as we thought a cheesecake would look great on it, don't you think? Or it was just a grand scheme of excuse to eat some cake! 😋

Hi guys! We are Pudgy and Sprout. This is our first introductory post about us so we are naturally nervous actually typing this out. Please bear with us as we get over our anxiety with this copy! We are JJ and Ila, a couple in our early 30s trying to make a living doing what we love. For those that are curious, this is both our full time job and at the moment we supplement our income by doing deliveries. We would do all that we currently do, for free because we simply love what we do. We dream of a world where we can barter trade our things with others. A table/ A wooden bowl for a carton of milk perhaps? But unfortunately we need money to sustain us. To add a cherry on top of it all, we live in one of the most expensive cities in the world, Singapore. So we are trying to make our improbable dream come true!

JJ loves to make things primarily out of wood, he doesn't want to admit it but he loves turning wood. He could stand for hours in a trance as he turns and turns and turns. He is a technical guy, so if our copy sounds like a manual the chances are it was written by him.

If Ila had to choose one option, she would choose 10. The best way to describe her is a mixed media artist. She has 101 hobbies/passion/interest she loves to experiment with colours, fibres, mediums and textures. Design is her strong suit, as well as falling asleep in any awkward position.

As partners who share 2 different faiths, we commemorate both Eid and Christmas. So naturally we had to make something to add some fun and colour to the upcoming festivities! Can't wait to put these up next month, in the mean time may this blessed month bring you and your loved ones an abundance of blessings, peace and happiness!

Our 3 year old niece recently had a birthday, it was the perfect excuse to make something. Like a personalised wall hanging for her new room! A bowl full of granola was a great kick start to a healthier lifestyle. But what can we do next? We thought. How about a muddy ride into nature? Why not!

It was muddy, it was tough, it was terrifying but it was bucketloads of fun! I like the balance it required most of all. Trusting my body and bike to lean into it when every logical nerve is telling you otherwise. Mud puddles and I have a love hate relationship, because I never know how deep that puddle is going to be until you start to sink in, but boy when you manage to get out of it without falling, it feels like a million bucks!

Everything moves so quickly, it demands complete physical and mental focus. It just clears my mind and lets me get away from myself for awhile.

And when we came back, I was so inspired! I started to sketch. Well I had a really loooong nap first, then I started! I hope this weave does justice to reflect how inspired I was by the colours, the textures, the mud, even the bruises, and most of all the balancing!
