What a week in Lisbon at !

✅ All week – Our FibreTrace booth became a hub of connection and curiosity. We said bom dia to hundreds of visitors, serving over 2,500 coffees and 600 pastries, while showcasing hands-on demos tracing socks. Each conversation reinforced how fibre-level verification underpins true accountability across the supply chain.

✅ Monday – We unveiled our FibreHub and introduced our next chapter of interoperability — two major milestones in closing the gap on fibre verification at Tier 4.

✅ Tuesday – Our founder, Danielle Statham, joined Claire Bergkamp, CEO of Textile Exchange, in co-hosting an intimate dinner reflecting on the future of traceability — and how FibreTrace’s mission to make every fibre verifiable and traceable is bringing that future to life.

✅ Wednesday – We brought radical candor to The Real Conversation, uniting , , , and other global leaders to unpack the unintended consequences of regulation — and how we can build confidence and accountability at every touchpoint.

As we head home, we’re left asking — when it all goes to plan, when every fibre is verified and every claim is backed by proof — what’s left to question?

That’s our ambition 🖤

A recent article discussing the notion of sustainability in the textile and fashion industry has highlights some key areas for industry-wide improvement.

1. The need to establish quality datasets. Without these, the quality, origin and subsequent environmental impact is very difficult to know and understand.

2. Current lack of verification of data means that meaningful and authentic information is sparse, with brands and manufacturers sharing sustainability claims without the evidence to back these up.

3. The complex nature of the term ‘sustainability’, encompassing both social and environmental issues, means that instances of greenwashing and bluewashing are on the rise. It is essential that gaps in practices are identified and clearly communicated to consumers.

All of these issues link directly to having verifiable data. Knowing your supply chain, the people, the materials, and the methods involved, is a crucial step in ensuring sustainability is communicated authentically and appropriately.

How can this be achieved? Think FibreTrace, a physical and digital traceability tool that allows supply chain mapping and fibre auditing, all backed with verified data.

In the textile industry, traceability means a company knows its own supply chain from start to finish.

Transparency within the industry relates to the practice of openly disclosing all information surrounding a garment's origins.

Traceability provides opportunity for transparency to exist and is the first step towards accountability.

On June 17th, the United States Department of Homeland Security issued the ‘Strategy to Prevent the Importation of Goods Mined, Produced, or Manufactured with Forced Labor in the People’s Republic of China Report to Congress’.

The report outlines what can be expected of imports from any country into the United States using materials that originated from China.

Importantly, it notes that DNA traceability and isotopic testing are verified means of determining a fibre’s origin.

Physical and digital traceability solutions provide complete transparency throughout the global supply chain. This technology is key to ensuring authenticity and trust within the textile industry.
