Serious but never severe, minimal but never simple, fragile but never weak. These factors form the underlying DNA of max.tan.

Serious but never severe, minimal but never simple, fragile but never weak. Experiments with quirk cuts and expanding on extremely simple ideas define the max.tan language. Maximizing on minimalistic ideas, this complex language results in details that are sometimes blown out of proportions. Much of the label’s attention is paid to tailoring and draping while creating unexpected silhouettes and au

stere moods. The garments play with volume, modified shapes and use, masculine, feminine, oversized, undersized, deconstruction, reconstruction and transformation. The label advocates an alternative and quiet fashion lifestyle.

After a year of hiatus, we're back. We've spent the last year searching and questioning our identities being a designer label based in the tropics, more specifically in this cultural melting pot - Singapore.

Aptly titled Wanita (lady or woman in the Malay language), this season sees a softer side of us as well as familiar classics that we have updated. The design strategy plays on a humble south east asian garment - the sarong. Extend, wrap and drape informs how the garments are designed, constructed and worn. Transforming high-summer sarong shapes into modern dressing codes.

Taking a cue from our love for tailoring, this season's collection takes on a quiet and monastic quality. Structured tailored qualities are stripped back and rewritten with a looser hand. Long over long styling on looks places an emphasis on layering and a neutral palette. Garments that can easily paired with one another within the collection or work itself into a modern women's wardrobe.

our love for minimalism evolves with a more rustic heart this season, with women's designs that prize longevity, cuts and craft.

From the sketchbook / WANITA – SS21
Taking inspiration from the humble Sarong, the language of wrap is explored and applied onto contemporary garments. Extend – Fold – Tuck and Drape; almost like unspoken language or code, the same wrap, tuck and drape technique is uniform across the different hands wearers.
In place of seams, the conversation between the wearer’s hands, fabric and body is representative of South East Asia way of dressing. The observation on the folding directions of a fabric on a body inspires the cut of the garments.
Merging these dressing dialogues into the construction of “uniforms” from today in a modern East meets West sensibility.
