Thank you EVERYONE for bringing the 🔥Kampung Gelam Spirit🔥.
Our first Jalan Kebaya and it was everything we hoped it would be and more. From the music, the dances, the movement, the stories, the strides, and every familiar and new face that walked with us, thank you for making it so special.
To see our community celebrated, the kebaya worn so beautifully, so proudly, and so naturally through our streets was a reminder of why we do what we do.
It’s a small programme, but filled with lots of heart; with performances by some of our loveliest and most talented friends. Truly, the contributions as well as heart (and hard!) work is something we are honoured and will always be thankful for. Thank you to Alunan Kampung Gelam (Azura, Amirah, Thaddeus, Riduan & Faizah Jamal). Thank you to Georgiana Olivia Goh, Janah Kareem, Marziana Johar, Melissa Sidek, Noormah Salim, Norhayati Masnan, Rilla Melati, Shazna Sim, Yasmine Ali and Zaiton. We are eternally grateful.
Honouring the strong women who paved the path & shaped the Kebaya before us. Celebrating the women (not forgetting their supportive men!) who continue its story, for the generations to come.
