We’re not closingggg. Don’t worry, By Marlena has been around for 12 years, and InsyaAllah, another 12 more to come. 🤍

This is not the end of By Marlena.
This is simply me stepping away from the rush, the chaos, and the version of the brand that consumed so much of me over the years.

For the longest time, I carried responsibilities and pressures that many people never really saw. Being the head of a brand may look beautiful from the outside, but behind it were years of constant decision-making, sacrifices, stress, and carrying the weight of so many people and expectations on my shoulders.

I think I’m finally tired. Tired of always having to be strong, always having to move fast, always having to hold everything together quietly.

Soon, my mum — Marlena herself — will be taking over the management of the brand. And slowly, you may no longer see “Amalia” at the forefront the way you always have.

By Marlena will also no longer be about fast fashion or constant rushing. We want to return to creating with more intention, more thought, and more meaning behind every piece. Slower launches, slower growth, slower living.

Maybe that’s what this season of life is teaching me — that not everything beautiful needs to be rushed. 🤍

I’m leaving By Marlena.

Abayas have always been a huge part of my life. In many ways, they became 40% of who I was. I’ve been in this industry since I was 18 years old, and for years, my world revolved around By Marlena.

Behind the beauty of abayas was also the most chaotic season of my life — rushing for weekly photoshoots, preparing launches, managing teams, attending classes, constantly chasing growth and expansion. Somewhere along the journey, we grew too fast, and I slowly lost myself in the process.

When I finally slowed down, I realised I had spent so much time building a business that I forgot to give myself the space to reflect on what I truly deserved and wanted in life. I tucked away my own struggles and emotions because my focus was always on By Marlena.

Over the past 6–8 months, Allah gave me the opportunity to step away from abayas almost completely. Other than when I travel, I haven’t really worn or immersed myself in them the way I used to. And in that silence, I found clarity.

This may be my farewell to the world of abayas — at least in the way you’ve always known me. Before I take that step, I want to bring you some of my favourite pieces and selections.

Moving forward, I may no longer be the one spearheading, designing, or running By Marlena the way I once did. But I will always be grateful for everything this journey has taught me, and for every woman who has been part of it. 🤍
