2016 – 2018
Begin tailor startup in Shanghai, China.
Started a 20 men tailor suits factory and retail outlet to gain foothold and knowledge of the tailor suit vertical industry.

2019
Literally walk over 2000km with fabric & suits samples of up to 15kg.
Visit more than 700 tailor shops, fabric suppliers & suit factories.
Mostly cold call, door-knocking method without prior appointment using Google Map & 点评网Dianping app.
Covered Malaysia, Singapore and 22 provinces in China.
Get to know all the operation method and pain points of each segment of the tailor industry.

2020 - 2022
Attempt to build the Tailor Industry Marketplace with a Singapore award-winning tech co. during COVID.
Multiple delay from the tech co. Laden with labour debts to our operation team.

2023
I started to drive Grab taxi for the repayment.
Inducted into Huawei Incubator Program (Asia Pacific)

2024
Full Settlement of debts in September.
In preparation on our 3rd attempt to launch the Tailor Industry Marketplace in December 2024 with a new tech team from Singapore, Malaysia & China.

GenTM is consolidating all the supply chain stakeholders (Tailor shops + Fabric Supplier + Suits/Shirt Manufacturers) of the tailor industry globally into a single Tailor Industry Marketplace. We help tailor businesses sell their service online, while they can source for higher production quality & cheaper fabric through Supply Chain Pingduoduo 供应链拼多多concept. The outcome is individual tailor shop can achieve saving in their cost of purchase. An advantage is to network all these tailor shops together and consolidate their knowhow, so to support each other businesses mutually and globally. To this end, our marketplace will enhance all stakeholders’ revenue and business sustainability in the long run.

All aspect of talents pool in a startup is extremely hard to find ( at the right budget too) while ensuring these talents can fit into the zig saw puzzle perfectly. All our effort is to have a chance to complete a MVP , in order to hv a shot at traction of users. The objective is to secure funding, so to feed the team. Salary of talents are expensive nowadays. That is also why startup has high failure rate. Founders must have the grits to rise above all and persist our ultimate vision.

Thru an introduction in social media chat, met up with Doreen Tan, CEO n founder of The Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre (TaF.tc) , which has launched over 170 professional fashion courses and programs in Singapore with a regional outreach since 1983. Their graduates gain accreditation to world class list of universities and college in the field of fashion design. Had a great inquisitive exchange in our three hours on my save-master-tailor project. Larry is the Singaporean founder of Huberross Shirt Fabric , along with his wife. They together spent 30 years to make the niche success of their European-made fabric brand across Asia to Europe. Their top-end shirt fabric are of very high quality and sell to many tailor shop and fashion brands. He mentioned the first 10 year was most difficult as they have to rely on brand representation of others and earn lower margin. They eventually start their own shirt fabric brand and slowly earn the trust from their customers. I love chatting with true blue entrepreneur who have suffered serious setback on their path and learn how to recover from negative zone and eventually success. All lasting success of an entrepreneur has to stand the test of time and at every corner of difficulty, become a responsive problem solver. Keep walking for me !
