In the beginning, Little Nyonya Batik is established because of my family personal interest. Besides Batik is beautiful wearable art piece & Indonesia’s unique cultural heritage, we support traditional batik communities in Indonesia by choosing handmade product. I grew up in Pekalongan, the largest producer of batik on the north coast of Java. After I know how’s the intricate process & difficulty

of doing batik, makes me more appreciate & interested in it. As a Peranakan Chinese-Indonesian, my product is more to the Peranakan style with it’s vibrant colour, and Chinese motif. By bringing the high quality product at the most reasonable pricing, we have been receiving many positive enquiries & feedback from our clients every single day. Our private event with Foundation Jewellers ✨

A wonderful afternoon at DORS on 29 May, where we had the opportunity to share the beauty and heritage of the kebaya and batik with an enthusiastic audience.

Thank you to Foundation Jewellers for organizing this special event and for giving us the platform to introduce our story, culture, and craftsmanship. We are grateful for the warm support and meaningful conversations throughout the session.

My grandmother’s sarong is around 100 years old, yet it is still so beautiful today 💙

Many people ask: How did Nyonyas match their kebaya and sarong in the past?

Back then, a fine batik sarong was extremely valuable, comparable to gold. My grandmother even shared that pawn shops would accept batik sarongs, just like gold and jewellery.

A Nyonya would usually choose her sarong first, then have a kebaya made to match the colours found within the batik design. This sarong, for example, features shades of purple, pink, and blue on a cream background. Any of these colours can be used for the kebaya, creating a harmonious and elegant ensemble.

A beautiful reminder that Peranakan fashion was not only about style, but also about craftsmanship, value, and thoughtful coordination.

Thank you Foundation Jewellers for organizing this wonderful event and inviting us to share our story with your customers. And Alvin Oon from Peranakan Sayang who gives me this opportunity.

I was definitely nervous, as I had spent weeks preparing the presentation and brushing up on the basic knowledge I wanted to share. On the day itself, I learned that many of the attendees were Peranakans, which made me even more anxious!
Thankfully, the audience was incredibly supportive, and that helped our team feel much more at ease.

A special thank you to my friend Margaret and her children for helping us as our models👧🏻👦🏻. Having worn batik shirts and kebaya since they were young, they were the perfect example for our presentation on Modern Kebaya and the importance of preserving our culture for future generations.

Thank you everyone for your warm support and encouragement. 💙
