Welcome back to Luangphor’s story Part 2.

After we established the facts, we began our first donation drive with our own amulets for these children. Together with the amount raised, we bought shoes, slippers, daily wears, dry foods and fans, amongst other things.
We continued to do the same for them, visit after visit. At times, we would pass funds from our own pockets to Luangphor.

Luangphor once said, ”Although I am not their real father but it is my duty to rise them well. Guide them well when they are young through Buddha’s teachings. They will be able to take care of themselves when it is time for them to leave this temple.” Indeed, this is evident from the mannerism shown by these children.

There were 87 orphans during our first visit. 6 of them has since secured jobs in another town, while the rest remains in the temple. Like a big family, elder children learned to take care of younger ones. Some between 16-19 years old teenagers work part time for a mere 50 Thai baht (equivalent to SGD$2.08) per day, in order to help out with expenses in this temple.

Special tribute to Luangphor whom received 2 accolades from the Thai Royals, on 26th December 2021.
1 for Outstanding National Person and another for Maintenance of National Religion.
We are extremely proud to have known Luangphor since Year 2017 and truly happy for Him to have received recognition.

As we vividly remembered how we were drawn to Luangphor’s temple for the very first time by a group of 7-9 children. This temple has nothing fanciful. Negligible at sight, it doesn’t tempt anyone to visit. Some 30 minutes later, we realised this is a place for some 87 orphans (at that time) to call home. A home to which they live in from birth, abandoned by their parents at a nearby local hospital.

Soon, a huge figure greeted us. It was the Chief Abbot, Luangphor. The man whom never rejected any children from the hospital. The man whom almost single-handedly rise these children. The same man whom not only adopted these children but gave them a home, gave them food, gave them education and His unconditional love. We were astounded by Luangphor’s presence.

In celebration of these 2 awards, we will be back to share more on our experiences with Luangphor, from past to present. Please stay tuned.
