One series that never fails to capture attention at the Shophouse is the National Collection by Museum Martket. 🫶

The collection draws from artworks held in Singapore’s museum archives, translating them into everyday objects that carry a piece of history with them. 🤍

Featured here is Capsule 3: Kaleidoscopic Nature 🌺

The designs are inspired by the William Farquhar Collection — a remarkable set of 477 watercolour drawings commissioned by William Farquhar, the first Resident and Commandant of Singapore from 1819 to 1823.

These natural history illustrations depict the flora and fauna of the Malay Peninsula, and were most likely painted by local Chinese artists of the time. ✨�
