Two scents that remind me of my childhood are the smell of lemongrass and Wusulan. Every morning my grandmother brewed lemongrass with kinkeliba leaves and that was our breakfast drink.

Wusulan or what is known as Churai in Gambia and Senegal is woody incense which you burn in small clay pots with holes and let the heavenly smell take over your home. My mom burned wusulan regularly especially during the rainy season when the house can get damp and cold. It can be burned in electric incense burners as well.

Madinga and Wolof women also burn wusulan under their boubous (gowns) and the fragrance can last for days or weeks even.

Come and get some tomorrow at the Pop Up Shop and let your home smell heavenly. Your guests will surely appreciate the wonderful earthy smell.

Pssssttt wusulan and waist beads (baya) are the Madinga and Wolof women's weapons of seduction. Buy wusulan and get a free waist bead😉
