🪨 The ruins of Priene 🪨. Priene was an ancient Ionian Greek city near the Aegean Coast of modern day Turkey. Built in the 4th century BC on the site of an older Greek village, it was located north of the Maeander River (known in antiquity for its windiness, giving birth to the term "meander"). Features of the ruins include the Temple of Athena (pics 1, 2, 6 - built by Alexander the Great, the one with five large columns still standing), a theatre (pic 6), and a legislative meeting area (called a 'bouleuterion', pic 3), as Priene was a democratic city-state.
I'm also using this set to contribute to the prompt of 💨 "Opposites Attract" 🪨, because I'm wearing an Air Bending dress at a site which very strong reminds me of Earth Bending, with the rocks and earth making up the ruins. As anyone who watched ATLA should know, Earth is considered the opposite of Air, which is why Aang found Earth the most difficult of the elements to master!
