小時候說自己是阿美族的時候，心裡總覺得有點假。

因為我沒有族名。

就算血脈不會騙人，但內心隱約還是有缺口。

直到32 歲那年，外婆把外曾祖母的名字給了我：Fo^nok。

於是，我成為了Fo^nok二世

Fo^nok一世走得很早，外婆沒講過她，我媽對她也幾乎沒有記憶。戶籍謄本上也沒有寫太多她的資料。

所以我並不覺得自己活在別人的影子裡，反而覺得多了這個名字，缺口被填平，我因而變得完整。

我想，無論是正名，還是復名，就是找回族人的完整性和多元性吧。

今天是8/1，原住民日。

When I was little, saying "I'm Amis" always felt a little like pretending.

Because I had no Pangcah name.

Blood doesn't lie. And still, somewhere inside, there was a gap.

Then, at 32, my grandmother gave me my great-grandmother's name: Fo^nok.

And so I became Fo^nok II.

The first Fo^nok died young. My grandmother never spoke of her, and my mother barely remembers her. Even the household register holds almost nothing about her.

So I have never felt I was living in someone else's shadow. If anything, this name closed the gap — and made me whole.

Whether it is a people reclaiming its name, or a person restoring her own, I think it comes down to the same thing: giving a people back their wholeness, and their many ways of being.

Today, August 1, is Indigenous Peoples' Day in Taiwan.
