OPEN RESEARCH / RESIDENCY PREPARATION
Before entering the residency, I am developing a series of preparatory studies that define the conceptual and structural direction of the project.
This phase is not about final garments.
It is about testing how form behaves before it becomes a product.
My focus at this stage is:
how construction logic can generate silhouette
how pattern thinking changes when it is not limited by production finality
how material intention translates into spatial form
how textile technologies can extend structural possibilities of garment construction
including early explorations into laser embroidery techniques on tapestry-weight fabrics as a way to merge surface, structure, and digital precision
how visualisation tools and AI-based methods can support the exploration of form, allowing faster iteration of structural ideas before physical prototyping
how a garment can exist as a system rather than an object
The sketches shown here are part of this research process.
They are not illustrations of finished ideas, but working hypotheses - visual notes on construction, proportion, and internal structure.
In this project, I treat design as an iterative language:
each line, each volume, each distortion of form is a decision inside a system.
This residency will continue this exploration in physical prototypes, where these ideas will be tested in real material conditions.
This is the starting point of the process.
