Although the desserts that we all love so much are good on their own, as independent dishes, they are most often served at the end of dinner for a sweet table or a festive feast. Just as in an opera or performance the final scene is important, giving completeness to the action, so in a properly organized dinner there must be a place for the final “chord” - dessert. Served "at the end of the day", it is usually sweet (although the culinary traditions of some countries include savory desserts: a classic example is the "cheese plate" in France).
