Keanu Reeves was born on September 2, 1964 in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, in the family of an Englishwoman Patricia Bond (nee Taylor) and a native of Hawaii, Samuel Knowlin Reeves Jr., an American with English, Irish, Portuguese, Hawaiian and Chinese roots [4]. Patricia met Samuel in Beirut, where she worked. He was then an unskilled laborer, having received his Abitur while serving a sentence in Hawaii after being convicted on charges of selling he**in at an airport. Later he acquired the specialty of a geologist. He left his wife and family when their son was three years old. Currently[specify] Reeves does not have a relationship with his father.
As a child, Reeves often had to change places of residence, moving with his mother[5], who, after a divorce in 1966, became a costume designer. First they moved to Australia, then to New York. There, his mother met Broadway and Hollywood director Paul Aaron and married him. The family moved to Toronto; the couple divorced in 1971. In 1976, Patricia married Robert Miller, a rock promoter; they divorced in 1980. Marriage to her fourth husband, hairdresser Jack Bond, ended in 1994.
Reeves and his sisters spent most of their childhood and youth in Toronto. His upbringing was mainly done by his mother's parents and nannies. Within five years, he changed four schools, including Toronto Art School, from which he was later expelled "because of excessive rebelliousness," as he himself later explained.
Reeves excelled more in hockey than in academic disciplines, since the educational process was complicated for him by dyslexia. Reeves dreamed of becoming a hockey player, playing for the honor of Canada at the Olympics, but an injury put an end to his hockey dreams. Later, Keanu attended an alternative free school ("Avondale Alternative"), which allowed him to get an education and earn money as an actor at the same time. He later dropped out of school without getting his high school diploma.
