One of the biggest fashion awards ceremonies of the year brought out some of the industry’s brightest stars—and an assortment of celebs who support their work. The CFDA Fashion Awards took place this evening at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History. Designers Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Thom Browne, Tory Burch, and W***y Chavarria were among those nominated.

The annual ceremony brought out some of the biggest stars in the fashion industry.

I was looking for the bathroom at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, but instead I found Cher. She was being led from one photo opp to another, surrounded by a caravan of hair and makeup people, a battalion of security guards, a stylist who was dressed like my mom in the ’80s, and, inexplicably, Tyga. “Excuse me, kids,” said the music legend kindly, as if I was blocking her car in a suburban driveway. I politely moved aside. She kept walking. Then, Candice Swanepoel strolled by in a robe and told me where to find the nearest Porta Potty. Approximately 30 minutes later, she was strutting past me on a gleaming pink catwalk, wearing star-print underwear and giant swizzle sticks shaped like fairy wings. Cher was right behind her.

The Angels are back, and so is Tyra Banks.

In a grand Elphaba meet-up last night, Idina Menzel and Cynthia Erivo presented the Tony Award for Best Musical to The Outsiders. (Menzel originated the role of Elphaba when Wicked debuted on Broadway in 2003; while Erivo stars as the character in the upcoming Wicked film with Ariana Grande.) It was a magical moment of “green girl power,” as Menzel called it, but both actresses left the emerald hues at home for the ceremony. On Broadway’s biggest night, Menzel wore a Naeem Khan dress, Gismondi 1754 jewels, Stuart Weitzman heels, and a Tyler Ellis clutch to the 77th Tony Awards.

Menzel, who notably won a Tony Award in 2004 for her turn as Elphaba in Wicked, is returning to Broadway next year in Redwood.
