Grateful for this experience in Uganda back in November! I was honoured to work with the amazing in a tandem for the project “Fabric of a shared Future” an exchange between 4 designers from Hamburg, Germany and 4 designers from Kampala, Uganda organised by and funded/supported We presented our final project in Kampala.
Before meeting in Uganda we got to connect and know each other a bit better via Zoom meetings. As artistic mothers we clicked very easily and decided on a topic around womanhood, that’s how “Layers of a woman” was born. We tried to join our skills and knowledge as designers, the art of beading and fashion. Being as sustainable as possible we created some pieces (also an A.I. Clip) and we have ideas for so much more!!! I will also make a video on the experience on this entire topic/ journey. As I said before, for me especially it was not just a fashion experience to add to my portfolio but a special experience as a black designer based in Germany that has been making Afro- Caribbean inspired fashion for over a decade, a type of homecoming! Stay tuned…
