This dress came to be long before it ever came into existence. What I mean by that is long before it was made… due to my excessive use of material, this little tribal piece of fabric was first used on a vegan leather top empire waist dress I made for my final collection when I was back in Uni ;) lol back in 2014. Swipe to see the original 2014 silhouette for this fabric. I’ve had it for over 10 years before I found the perfect silhouette to birth a new life from it .

This time instead of using it as the main subject matter I created this underbust corset-like construction and added some boning to it to stabilize the structure.

The bottom half of the dress is from a silk/satin roll of fabric I had purchased for this Gunna x Bas music video I was hired to costume design for that got killed like a day before the shoot because man’s got locked up. Right?! Crazy. So I was left with a cute lil kill fee and all this excess fabric that as you can see I was not fina let go to waste.

Excited about my relaunch, I figured I give you all some backstory of my favorite piece in this collection so far. The ‘Controversial’ Unisex 100% Silk/Satin Puffer Vest. This puffer came to be through an amalgamation of digital art pieces of my fashion illustrations from my 2021/22 Spring/Summer Collection I commissioned an artist to create from my OGs back when the egregious accessibility of Ai was not a thing. Some designs made it to the final collection, and some have yet to be made. This piece is a making of its own nostalgic-foreshadowing in what has made and continues to make the Controversy by R.E.V brand who we are. And how we got here.
