Just wondering if anyone is making use of all this fallen timber.

Huge pine and oaks sawed up into logs in piles everywhere. Magnificent branches, all very usable wood.

Where’s it all going? I feel uneasy and disturbed when I’ve seen smoke that I assume is from people burning it. Is someone somewhere actually using this wood?

Another thing comes to mind. People talk of cutting down trees that are near their homes to prevent damage from trees falling in future. But part of the reason the storms are so fierce is the rising temperatures caused by less trees on the planet.

We’ve all seen total clearing away of vast areas of forests for- what? To build condo communities with no trees? Isn’t it possible to build homes and condos without clearing away every trace of living green first?

I read about entire small towns washed away down mountains in North Carolina. This is not good, folks.

Times are changing and the forces of nature will continue, with us or without us.

Tomorrow I am taking 27 paintings to the Aiken Center for the Arts in downtown Aiken!

Show opening is Thursday 8/10 from 5 pm till 8 pm. I’m in the Aiken Artist Guild Gallery in the back on the right of the main floor.

Nong von Buedingen, a local artist with roots in Thailand, will be showing her Aiken Scenes in the front gallery, along with whimsical pottery by Jennifer Keller.

Live music, snacks, and wine usually accompanies these events.

I’ll send messages out - Hope y’all can make the opening or come see the show. It will be up till September 9.

You can choose from a wide variety of macaw, parrot, peacock, turkey, and pheasant feathers. Many natural colors available, all naturally molted feathers from live healthy birds.
