Don’t Hang Up Your Harp

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. There on the poplars we hung up our harps.
Psalm 137:1–2, NIV

TODAY’S WORD:
After the people of Judah were conquered and taken into captivity by the Babylonians, they were so discouraged. They used to be joyful and sing about the greatness of Jehovah, but now they just sat and wept over what they lost. They didn’t just lose their freedom; they lost their praise and hung up their harps. When their captors asked them to sing the joyous songs of Israel, they refused. Their attitude was: “After God delivers us, we’ll get our joy back and sing again.” No, praise is what turns a difficult season around. While you’re waiting for things to change, believing for breakthroughs, the enemy would love for you to get discouraged, to sit around complaining about your problems and hang up your harp. That’s when you need to give God praise more than ever. Praise activates His power. Praise causes angels to go to work. Praise opens prison doors. Praise breaks chains. Praise defeats giants. Don’t hang up your harp. You can praise your way out. Keep the praises going up and you’ll be amazed at what God will do.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:🙏🏽
“Father, thank You that You are my God and that’s reason enough to never waver in believing Your promises. Thank You that I can sing with joy in whatever season I am in. I am going to keep believing, keep praising, and keep thanking You for what’s on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Let God Do It

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
So Haman…robed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city streets, proclaiming before him, “This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!”
Esther 6:11, NIV

TODAY’S WORD:
In the book of Esther, a powerful Persian official named Haman tried to push down Mordecai, who was Esther’s cousin. He disrespected Mordecai, tried to make him look bad, then plotted to execute him. But one day the king told Haman to put a royal robe on Mordecai, march him through the streets, and announce to everyone what a great man Mordecai was. Out of all the people the king could have chosen, he specifically chose Haman to honor Mordecai, the very person who was against him. When someone treats you badly, that’s what can happen when you let God vindicate you. Don’t worry about the boss who’s not giving you credit. You’re not working unto people. You’re working unto God, and He is keeping the records. Perhaps instead of you working for that boss, one day that boss may be working for you. Stay in peace. If you let God vindicate you His way, it will be bigger, sweeter, more rewarding, and more honoring than you can imagine. He will make sure you get exactly what you deserve.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:🙏🏽
“Father, thank You that You are still on the throne and You are my vindicator when I am treated badly. Thank You that You can bring me out of difficulties better off than I was before they showed up. I am going to stay in peace and let You vindicate me Your way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

How You See Your Heavenly Father

Today's Scripture:
“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you.”’”
Luke 15:17–18, NLT

Today's Word:
After the prodigal son had taken his father’s inheritance, wasted it all on wild living, and was finally destitute, feeding hogs, it was only the character of his father that gave him the boldness to return home. He knew that there would be judgment from others, especially from his brother, but he knew his father was the key. He remembered how loving, generous, merciful, and compassionate his father was. He did not return to his family house, but to his father, who wonderfully welcomed him and fully restored him as his son. How you see your Heavenly Father will determine whether you stay away from Him or return to Him when you’ve done wrong. Maybe you’re staying away because you have the wrong image of God. You’re letting the lies play: “God won’t receive you. You’ve blown it too many times. You should live guilty and condemned.” No, if you know who your Heavenly Father really is, you will arise and go to Him. You will know that He is waiting with open arms, waiting to celebrate your arrival.

Prayer For Today:
“Father, thank You for who You are, so compassionate and merciful. Thank You that You are not holding my past against me. Thank You that I am forgiven. Thank You that I’m redeemed because of what Jesus did on the cross. I’m coming boldly to Your house right now. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Stay on the Walls

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, and…said, “What are those feeble Jews doing?...Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?”
Nehemiah 4:1–2, NIV

TODAY'S WORD:
Nehemiah was courageously leading the effort to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and restore safety to its inhabitants when two men, Sanballat and Tobiah, opposed him. They started stirring up trouble, spreading rumors about Nehemiah’s motives, making false accusations, and gathering other enemies to stop the work. But however much Nehemiah was tempted to straighten them out, he refused to be baited into conflict and kept working, completing the walls in record time. He put his reputation and purpose in God’s hands and focused on what he was called to do. It’s no different today. Anytime you step up to do the right thing, don’t be surprised if someone finds fault, questions your motives, and says things that are not true. If you were sitting around being mediocre, no one would care. The fact that people are trying to discredit you, trying to make you look bad, that’s a sign that you’re doing something right, you’re making a difference, you’re leaving your mark. You keep doing the right thing, and God will take care of Sanballat and Tobiah.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:🙏🏽
“Father, thank You that You have given me walls to rebuild and a purpose to fulfill. Give me wisdom to know when what is coming against me is simply a distraction that will get me off course. I believe that You are my defender and will fight those battles for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

The Heart of a King

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7, NLT

TODAY’S WORD:
David had a history of being underestimated. Of the eight sons of Jesse, David was the youngest, the smallest, considered the runt of the litter. When the prophet Samuel came to anoint one of his father’s sons as the next king of Israel, Jesse didn’t call him in from the shepherds’ fields. He considered David less than his brothers, not strong enough or experienced enough or good enough. Jesse’s oldest son, Eliab, was tall, strong, muscular, attractive, in the military. He looked like a king. Even Samuel thought he was a perfect choice. But God loves to choose the underdog, the least likely, the one others write off. David had the heart of a king, which made him God’s choice. Eliab would later belittle David and try to make him feel small in front of some other soldiers. David could have easily been talked out of what God put in his heart, but he refused to let others determine his value. You have to do as David did and let your heart be fully His. You’ll have the heart of a king.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:🙏🏽
“Father, thank You that You are not limited to seeing me as other people see me. Thank You that You see my heart and You know my faithfulness to You. I declare that I will not allow how others treat me or what they say to determine my value and self-worth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Just because it still makes you cry doesn't mean you haven't made any meaningful progress.

Just because you're triggered doesn't mean you haven't recovered.

We have to stop discrediting how far we've come simply because we've had an emotional response to a memory or reminder of what was once a painful experience.

Triggers are reminders of where you have been, not where you are now.

Let’s stop measuring growth by the absence of triggers and, instead, measure growth by how we respond when we are triggered.

Move Forward

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
Daniel 6:28, NIV

TODAY’S WORD:
In Daniel 6, when Daniel was one of the three top administrators in King Darius’s kingdom, he was falsely accused and thrown into the lions’ den. Much to everyone’s surprise, God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths, and Daniel went on to prosper at a new level in his faithful service to the kings. It’s interesting that when you face your biggest battles, the most unfair, unjust attacks, that’s a sign that you’re close to seeing your greatest victories, your biggest accomplishments, your most rewarding relationships. The enemy always fights you the hardest when he knows you’re close to a new level of your destiny. Don’t settle where you are, reliving the hurt, thinking about what didn’t work out, and saying, “God, where were You?” God never left you. He’s been right by your side. Your part is simply to move forward in faith, trusting that He’s working all things for your good. As with David, you’re going to see God show out in your life. He’s going to do something unusual, out of the ordinary, that catapults you to a new level.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:🙏🏽
“Father, thank You that You know everything that is going on in my life and all that is coming against me. Thank You that You haven’t left me on my own, but that You step in and defend me when I need it. I’m not going to try to convince the wrong people, but I’ll just keep moving forward in faith. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Just Watch

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”
Numbers 11:23, NLT

TODAY’S WORD:
When the Israelites were in the desert, they complained bitterly to Moses that they were sick of manna and wanted meat to eat. There were no grocery stores out there, no meat markets, no Uber Eats to feed the two million people. God responded, “Moses, just watch. I’ll give them meat for a whole month.” From a logical perspective, Moses stated that it was way beyond impossible, but God is not limited by what limits us. God shifted the winds and millions of quail flew into their camp, enough for a month in the middle of the desert. If you take the limits off God, He’ll cause opportunity to find you. Good breaks and the right people will chase you down. Don’t do as Moses did and tell God all the reasons why you can’t be blessed, get well, or accomplish your dream. You’re studying the facts from a human point of view and being limited by your logic. Have a new perspective and say, “God, it seems impossible, but You can do the impossible. Your arm has not lost its power.”

PRAYER FOR TODAY::🙏🏽
“Father, thank You that Your arm has never lost any of its power, and You control the winds and bring Your blessings to me. When it looks too big for me, I know that with You all things are possible. I believe that You are not limited by any unfavorable conditions that I face. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

A Word of Encouragement

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
“Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them.”
Isaiah 3:10, NKJV

TODAY’S WORD:
Everyone in your life is fighting a battle. They’re dealing with something. They may not show it, but there’s a load they’re carrying. Thoughts are telling them that it’s not going to work out. It is always good to pray for others, but today’s Scripture also says, “Say to the righteous that it’s going to work out. Everything’s going to be okay.” Just give a word of encouragement when they’re under a heavy load. Just let them know that you care, remind them that God is still on the throne. You don’t have to have all the answers to their problems. It’s easy to feel intimidated because sometimes the situation is so complicated. Different people may be involved from very different backgrounds, and you’re not sure what to tell them about what they are going through. But you don’t have to solve the problem; that’s God’s job. Your part is to just nourish their soul and say, “I care about you. I’m standing with you. You’re going to make it.” Those kind words are what put people back on their feet.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:🙏🏽
“Father, thank You for Your hand of blessing in my life. I ask You to work through me and help me to speak kind words, offer compliments, give encouragement, and lift up those around me. Help me to listen and to bring Your healing presence into others’ lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Bigger and Better

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
“I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”
Genesis 17:16, NIV

TODAY’S WORD:
When God spoke today’s Scripture, Sarah was nearly ninety years old. The original promise of a son had been given twenty-five years previous to this. What’s interesting is that Sarah wanted a baby, but God was setting up something much bigger, much better. She would have been thrilled to give birth to a son, but God wanted a nation. She not only had a son at ninety years old, but she gave birth to nations; kings of people came out of her. It’s easy to get discouraged when you’re waiting for a promise from God. It can be frustrating when it’s taking longer than you thought for God’s plan to unfold. Maybe the reason your dream is taking longer, the reason that promise hasn’t come to pass yet, is because what God is going to do is so much bigger, so much more fulfilling than what you have in mind. You’re not going to give birth to a son, but to nations, so to speak. God has already scheduled “wow” moments, things you never dreamed would happen.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:🙏🏽
“Father, thank You for the dreams, the promises, the potential, the seeds of greatness that You put inside me. Thank You that You set me up for things that are bigger and better and more fulfilling than I can imagine. I believe I will give birth to my dreams. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
