John Truex has shared a lifelong passion for luxury leather goods with his longtime partner Richard Lambertson since the early 1990s. In 1998 the two co-founded Lambertson Truex, an American luxury handbag and accessories house that quickly established itself as a major player in the industry.
Under Truex’s leadership as Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Creative Director, the brand launched with immediate momentum, earning a devoted following among celebrities, socialites, and fashion insiders. In 2000, Truex and Lambertson were awarded the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year.
Following Tiffany & Co.’s acquisition of Lambertson Truex, Truex joined the jeweler in 2009 as Vice President and Design Director of the Tiffany Leather Collection. During his tenure the division achieved exponential growth, multiple record-breaking sales milestones, and a series of industry firsts, including the introduction of a men’s leather accessories line.
In 2014 Truex was recruited by Shinola as Design Director for Leather Goods, where he redefined the brand’s men’s and women’s offerings and set a new creative direction.
Before founding Lambertson Truex, Truex honed his craft at Carlos Falchi and in senior design roles at Nine West and ck Calvin Klein.
In the Fall 2018, Truex and Lambertson successfully relaunched the Lambertson Truex brand.
A member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) since 2000, John Truex remains one of the most accomplished and influential figures in American luxury leather goods.
