Our non-for-profit organization, A Lasting World Inc., will be sponsoring 15 underprivileged elementary school students in Appalachia, Kentucky for the 2026-27 school year. The program is entitled "Empower an Engineer" (their school teams are the Engineers!).
We are looking for THREE MORE sponsors to support one student
in 2026-27.
Sponsors make a $150 (tax-deductible!) donation to provide all the students' back-to-school supplies, new clothing for the start of school and clothing for the holidays. An OPTIONAL donation can be made for the student's Halloween costume, for the student's birthday, and for a holiday gift card. We keep in touch with sponsors throughout the school year, giving them information about their student and sending reminders for when OPTIONAL donations are due. You may receive correspondence from your sponsored student, as well! We do all the shopping and delivering to make it easy to be a sponsor!
We work closely with the school's Family Resources Coordinator and share updates and news from her with our sponsors.
If you are financially able, please consider sponsoring a student for the coming school year. I would like to have all donations no later than June 1. Thanks for your consideration, and please message me if you have questions or for more details!

Dear friends --

It's that time of year! I am asking you to consider purchasing a holiday gift for an underprivileged child in Appalachia, Kentucky. We have served in this particular area of the state for over 20 years, and we can assure you that these children are definitely in financial need.
I have created a registry on Amazon, called "Holiday Games 2025" and you can find it under gift registries by that name. The gift you purchase there will be shipped directly to me. I will wrap the gifts, and Jerry and I will personally deliver the gifts to the children's school before their winter break.

We received specific requests from some of the children, so not everything on the list is a game. Please browse and select something you would like to send!

I would like all gifts to be here by November 1 so that I have time to wrap, box and get them ready for the trip to Kentucky.

I know I am a beggar, but I am doing it with these kids in mind. I know that all of you have other causes you donate to, and that you have your own families and friends to think about at holiday time, but if God puts it on your heart to send a gift to Kentucky -- I know you will be blessed abundantly!

Would anyone (or a group) like to sponsor an underprivileged student in Kentucky for the entire school year? A $150 (tax-deductible) donation is all it takes, with an OPTION of sending cards/notes to the student throughout the year (I handle that part if you don't want to!)! 100% of the donation goes DIRECTLY to the student. There is nothing taken out for overhead expenses or travel to get the supplies to Kentucky. I need just a few more sponsors for the 2025-26 school year! It means so much to these kids! Thanks for considering it!

I told you that our wish list items had all been purchased.....but there are 6 more that have been newly added - wishes from some of the kids that were overlooked on the original lists they sent us! THANK YOU!!!!!! I cannot say those words enough times to express my gratitude! To each of you who donated a game, a blanket, gloves, hats, a toy, etc. for the kids we are sponsoring in Kentucky -- you are angels with hidden wings, and I cannot begin to tell you how much these gifts will mean to the kids when they open them at Christmas! To know they are loved by people who will probably never meet them will be a very special gift on its own!
