I’ve been holding something incredibly special close to my heart, and today I’m finally ready to share it. ❤️🐾
I wrote a children’s book series about my Jemma Girl.
Last year, when Jemma was diagnosed with cancer, I wasn’t ready to imagine life without her. Somewhere in the middle of that heartbreak, The Jemma Girl Series was born. I wanted her beautiful spirit and big, big heart to live on forever.
For months, I dreamed of announcing her first book with Jemma sitting beside me. I pictured us together, holding the book she inspired.
I never imagined I’d be making this announcement without her.
Just days ago, I had to say goodbye to my sweet girl, and my heart is absolutely shattered.
But her story doesn’t end here. 🤍
Jemma Girl and Her Big, Big Heart is the first book in a children’s series inspired by our real adventures and the extraordinary love she brought into my life.
Through these stories, I hope children discover love, kindness, courage, belonging, and the reassurance that they are never alone.
Jemma was my joy, my comfort, my constant companion, and my little protector of hearts.
On Monday, I’ll board a plane to Germany for the Frankfurt Book Fair to introduce her book to the world. I always imagined coming home to my girl after this incredible milestone. Instead, I’ll be carrying her in my heart every step of the way.
This isn’t how I imagined introducing our series, but perhaps it’s exactly why I started writing it.
I may not have gotten the photograph I dreamed of taking with her first book, but I had something far greater: a life filled with her extraordinary love.
The world is going to know my Jemma Girl. ❤️
Jemma, this was always your story. Now it’s my privilege to carry your big, big heart into the world.
