✨BUSTLES✨ Did you know that the majority of wedding gowns aren’t designed with a bustle pre-installed? The bustle is designed and installed by your seamstress. Most brides think that it automatically comes with the dress but this simply isn’t true. The style of your bustle is specifically chosen and set based on your preferences, body type, height, train length, and train shape. We’ve altered the same dress for 5 different girls and each one came out with a slightly different bustle! Some bustles are simple and some are more complex. Featured here is a 5 point American bustle.

A little throw back to one of our favorite couples - Tripp & Hannah! Along with her wedding gown we custom made her party dress for a fun outfit change so Hannah could dance the night away. We made her party dress out of the same fabric as her wedding gown for a mini collection. Happy Anniversary to these two!

REMINDER, WE ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!
No appointment = No service
We have clients who wait months to come in so if we have people constantly walking in and interrupting their well-awaited appointment it is unfair to them and also a waste of your time. To book an appointment please call 515-233-0303. If we do not answer it means we are either closed or in a fitting so simply leave a message and we will return your call at our earliest convenience. Sometimes we are in back to back fittings for hours, so repeatedly calling will not result in a quicker response.

• Additional closures this month on Saturday, May 16th, and May 23rd-26th for Memorial Day.
• Our Saturdays are still booked out months in advance so if you need an appointment in the month of MAY it will need to be during the week.
• If you are a FALL bride, call today to get on the books.
• Appointments are still required for all garments. No walk-ins and no repairs. You can also check our website for lead times for other formalwear categories.
• We are no longer accepting Ready-to-Wear. We are focusing on bridal, formalwear, and military categories only moving forward.
• We are no longer accepting Prom for 2026.

CLEANING REMINDER FOR WEDDING GOWNS!
• Per our policies, dresses should be NEW or CLEANED.
• If your wedding gown was purchased “off-the-rack” or at a “sample sale” it should be dry and wet cleaned BEFORE your initial fitting. These are two different cleaning techniques and remove different types of stains.
From our experience, most dry cleaners will not touch your wedding gown before your wedding and AFTER alterations, so it needs to be cleaned before you bring it to us.
• Trust us, even if your sample dress doesn’t have visible dirt or makeup stains, you should be very worried about your body chemistry mixing with others who have tried it on 🦠
• KN Custom Sewing is an alterations shop, NOT a dry cleaners so we do NOT have cleaning capabilities.
• Our preferred cleaning service is through Wedding Gown Preservation Company. They have a just cleaning option on their website that is cheaper than their full preservation service. Multiple clients have had positive experiences through them.
