Update on our goal: 4 sandals sold, 14 to go!

10 years ago, Liz Forkin Bohannon took a brave step to spontaneously move to Uganda. While she was there, she found that women and girls don’t need saving; they just need opportunity.

That’s where Mary, Mercy and Rebecca came in. They all sat with Liz under a mango tree making these funky sandals, and Liz went back to the US to sell them out of her car.

She was able to pay for all three women to go to university. Now Mary is a project officer at a community development nonprofit, Rebecca is a social worker at an international development agency and Mercy started a technology school in Fort Portal to provide technology access and training to member of their community (and she & her husband just had their fourth baby and adopted their fifth!)

3 years of laughter, petting daisy, debating tv shows vs movies, petty arguments, 50 long miles of distance, beach trips, blizzards & vanilla cones, changing our song every few months, hat dags and so much more.
