It’s going to be wonderful Saturday!
TOMORROW'S FORECAST! 😍
More things to know before you go to Art on the Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10am to 6pm along Mount Vernon Avenue:
HOW DO I GET TO ART ON THE AVENUE? Street parking is extremely limited. Art on the Avenue will provide FREE trolley transportation from both the Braddock Road and Potomac Yard Metro stations. No bicycles or scooters are permitted within the festival footprint; there will be a FREE bike valet at the Truist parking lot at the intersection of Hume & Mt. Vernon Avenues. More details and advance registration here: https://bikevaletdmv.com/event/art-on-the-avenue/
WHAT STREETS WILL BE CLOSED? The 1900-2900 blocks of Mt. Vernon Avenue between Bellefonte and Hume Avenues, plus an adjacent block to the east and west, will be closed to traffic from 7AM to approx. 7PM. During these street closures, buses will be detoured onto the 1600 – 2900 blocks of Commonwealth Avenue between Monroe and Hume Avenues.
CAN I BRING MY DOG? We LOVE dogs in Del Ray, but for the comfort and safety of our best friends, we strongly recommend keeping pups at home due to large crowds.
HOW DO I ENTER THE PIE BAKING CONTEST? The pie baking contest is back, with both youth AND adult competitions! Visit artontheavenue.org/pies for the entry form and complete rules and health department guidelines and bring your pie to the Pie Booth in front of the Dog Store between 10:15am and 11:45am on Saturday, Oct. 5. Pie slices will be available for purchase after judging; all proceeds will benefit the Alexandria Domestic Violence Safehouse.
WHAT IF I NEED HELP DURING THE FESTIVAL? Find a block captain (there's one on each block within the festival footprint, rocking a safety vest) or visit the information tent, located in front of St. Elmo's.
Art on the Avenue, voted by Virginia Living readers as the best art festival in Northern Virginia, is volunteer-run, with support from the local business community, and is free and open to all.
