One of the biggest questions we've heard since announcing our closing has been: “But where am I supposed to buy my bras now?!”

We knew we couldn't close the doors after ten years of teaching you what a properly fitted bra should look and feel like and then send you back into the wild with a measuring tape and our best wishes.

So, we've done the homework for you.

I've been asked one question more than any other since announcing that The Perky Lady is closing:

“So…what are you going to do now?”

The answer probably makes more sense than you might think.

When I opened TPL ten years ago, I didn't set out simply to sell bras.

I saw an industry that wasn't serving people particularly well. An experience that was often uncomfortable, impersonal and focused more on getting someone into a product than understanding the person standing in front of you.

I thought we could do it differently.

So we did.

We created a place where you could walk through the door exactly as you were. Where asking questions wasn't embarrassing. Where there wasn't one “right” body, experience or answer. Where we could laugh, have honest conversations, figure out what actually worked for YOU and send you back into your life feeling a little more like yourself, and in a lot of cases better than you ever had!

It turns out that part of TPL was always my favorite part.

So, my next chapter is an evolution.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of getting to know thousands of people beyond the surface. I've met women navigating enormous changes in their lives and relationships. People rebuilding after experiences they never expected to survive. People carrying families, careers, businesses and everyone else's needs while quietly running out of room for their own. And plenty of incredibly capable people who looked completely fine from the outside while life felt very different on the inside.

I've always been interested in that part of people—the part that isn't always visible at a glance.

Eventually, I realized I wanted to do something meaningful with that curiosity. That path took me back to graduate school and, today, into the therapy room as a Pre-licensed Counselor at Coffee Talk Therapy in Cary, while I complete my Master's.

And maybe this is the most important thing I can tell you about what that room looks like:

**You don't have to know how to do therapy.**

You don't need the right words. You don't need to have figured out what's wrong before you arrive. You don't need a perfectly organized story, a goal for every session or some profound insight you've been saving for my velvet couch.

You can show up imperfect. Confused. Contradictory. You can start in the middle, change your mind, laugh at something that probably isn't funny, say “I don't know” fifteen times, or bring me the messy version that hasn't made sense anywhere else yet.

I create a space where you don't have to perform. No pre-tense. No filters. No masking.

My job is to give you a judgment-free space where we can lay all of it out, get curious about it together, notice the things that are difficult to see when you're standing in the middle of them, and help you understand yourself and your life a little differently.

And I chose COFFEE TALK THERAPY very intentionally.

I wasn't interested in therapy that treated its clients like a number or felt cold, clinical or like sitting across from someone silently taking notes while you wonder what on earth you're supposed to say next. (Sound familiar? cue TPL ♥️ )

Like me, Coffee Talk Therapy believes therapy should feel human. Real conversation. Individualized care. Evidence-based treatment paired with practical tools you can actually use outside the therapy room. A place where you don't have to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong—or even what to call it.

That philosophy felt very familiar to me. Maybe that's the thread running through all of this.

TPL was never really about convincing women they needed fixing. It was about creating a different kind of space—one where people could feel comfortable enough to be honest, curious enough to discover something new about themselves, and supported enough to leave feeling more confident than when they walked in.

I'm incredibly grateful that you trusted me, and all of us at TPL, with that for the last ten years. (AND we've had some REALLY GREAT staff haven't we!?)

And now I get to carry the best parts of what this community taught me into something entirely new.

One of the hardest parts of closing The Perky Lady is saying goodbye to the people who helped make this place what it became.

But one of the best parts? Getting to tell you where they’re going next.

If you’ve had the pleasure of working with Laura, you already know she has an eye for the details—the little things that can turn something ordinary into something that feels personal, beautiful and distinctly YOU.

And she isn’t leaving that creativity behind.

She and her husband, a veteran, have created HONOR & OAK, a local handmade woodworking business creating refined, rustic pieces meant to be used, gifted, loved hard and enjoyed for years. Think gorgeous cutting and serving boards, b**r, wh***ey and dessert flight boards, home décor and handcrafted gifts that actually feel special—not something you grabbed on your way over because you waited till the last minute (even though you may have 😆 )

If you’ve ever shopped with us, you probably know that The Perky Lady never really did ordinary.

Not ordinary fitting rooms. Not ordinary lingerie. And definitely not ordinary shopping bags.

From our Art Deco fitting rooms and chandeliers to the iconic black-and-gold bags we sent out into the world, we wanted walking into The Perky Lady to feel like an experience—not an errand.

Because buying a bra shouldn’t feel clinical, embarrassing, or like something you just have to get over with. You deserved better than that. So we built better.

Now, with just two weeks remaining, some of the pieces that made The Perky Lady look and feel like The Perky Lady are ready to find new homes.

Select furniture, décor, fixtures, displays, and boutique accessories are now available for purchase. These items are cash & carry and final sale, with more becoming available as we get closer to closing.

The Perky Lady’s final day is October 15, 2026, and with each passing week, our selection is getting smaller.

If you have a gift card, a favorite style you’ve been meaning to replace, or a size you know you need, please don’t wait until the final days.

A few important reminders:

• All sales are now final.

• Please use your gift cards now. Gift cards may be redeemed toward available in-store merchandise through October 15, while inventory remains. The Perky Lady is permanently closing and will be unable to accept gift cards after operations cease.

• Shop early. Sizes, colors, and favorite styles are selling through, and once they’re gone, we may not be able to replace them.

• Coming in October: Furniture, fixtures, displays, décor, and other boutique pieces will become available as we get closer to closing.

We still have a beautiful boutique full of beautiful things—but that selection will only get smaller from here.

After nearly a decade of fittings, laughter, confidence, and helping women discover what a truly great bra can feel like, we have some bittersweet news to share.

👉 The Perky Lady will be closing permanently on October 15, 2026.

To every Perky Lady who trusted us through changing bodies, new babies, marriages, divorces, fresh starts, empty nests, and everything in between: thank you.

Thank you for every appointment, every fitting-room laugh, every friend you sent our way, and every time you chose The Perky Lady. ♥️

What began here in Apex grew far beyond the walls of our boutique. Over nearly a decade, we had the privilege of fitting, educating, and empowering thousands of women across the country and around the world. We helped change the way women thought about their bodies, their bras, and what they deserved from both.

And perhaps one of the things we’re proudest of: we became part of families. We fitted mothers and daughters, sisters, grandmothers and granddaughters—sometimes multiple generations of the same family. Women who first walked through our doors for themselves came back years later with someone they loved because they wanted her to have the same experience.

We built something special here. Its reach was far greater than we ever imagined, and we are incredibly proud of the impact The Perky Lady made.

We’re not saying goodbye just yet. We still have several weeks together, and we intend to make the most of them. ❤️

A few important things to know:

Get on the bandwagon, its true red disappears under white...but so does black, browns, earthy oranges, pastels and yes even some neons.

Life isn't beige and your bra wardrobe shouldn't be either. Start dressing intentionally for yourself, not some script you have running in the background.
