Gentlemans Avenue

Gentlemans Avenue Gentlemans Avenue is a place where men come to learn how to dress well and express who they are through clothing. It is style done simple.

Gentleman's Avenue was an idea that I came up with in high school. I grew up dealing with identity issues and a lack of confidence due to years of bullying. I found that dressing well drew out a confidence in me that I had never had before. I wanted to share this new gift that I had to other men and teach them how to pull out their stylistic expression of who they are. This is my passion that I kn

ow will go far and take you to places you didn't think were able to get to and give you a new sense of confidence.

Summer style, served with a side of Southern charm.

The blue seersucker blazer. The crisp white shirt. The navy polka dot bow tie. Golden 5-Pocket trousers. Two-tone spectators. A classic tank watch on leather. Every piece in this look tells a story—rooted in tradition, but worn with intention.

I’m trying to branch out in my casual game while and I’m feeling this look today.

Would you wear something like this, or is this look too bold for your summer rotation?

There’s something I love about mixing soft tailoring with a bit of Western grit. A gray sport coat, stonewashed denim, a suede belt—and yes, even a hat—can all live in harmony when the pieces feel like you.

Even if I’m just running out for coffee, I want to look and feel like myself.

Fragrance plays a big part in that. It sets the tone. Creates a mood. Tells a story before I even say a word.

Get your hosiery right!

The debate on whether or not to wear pattern, socks has infuriated many a sartorialist. I’m a fan of a tasteful pattern, added if it complements everything. Your accessories and details that you choose to adorn yourself with is akin to spices in a dish. If there’s too much of one, it will overpower everything and takes away from the beauty of it all.

A high-quality pair of socks, such like these over the calf (which are the only way to go) from keep my feet warm during the transitional period this spring.

What do you guys think? Do you wear patterned socks?

And before you say anything else, never wear a novelty print sock. The cool sock guy isn’t as cool as you think he is.

Brace yourselves!

A good pair of quality braces, such as these from adds a slight pop of whimsical flair to even the most conservative of an outfit.

These quality braces all made in England allow your pants to drape and hang properly. Of course you need to make sure that your trousers are cut high and full in the waist.

If you want a pair for yourself, comment below and I will get you set up!

Regardless of all the city clothes I wear, I’m still Texas at heart.

It’s an interesting conversation to have with a lot of other Texans and people who have opinions on what western wear should or shouldn’t be worn with. I believe that wearing western clothing is based on a beautiful lifestyle that really helped mold and shape this wonderful country that we live in.

I’ve never tried to project that I’m a farm boy or a cowboy or I know how to rope a steer off a horse. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve ridden a horse. I can tell you that growing up around hard-working, blue-collar men who were cowboys, farmers, and ranchers, I learned what a strong work ethic look like.

I’ve been raised that you always remove or tip your hat around a lady (I need to be better about this), you have a firm handshake when greeting another man, and you always say yes or no sir/ma’am.

There’s plenty of other gentlemanly things that I’ve been taught through growing up in Texas and I could not be more proud to call myself that.

Lunch at Jimmys. A sit down may or may not have taken place here.

Ever since I got back from Italy from visiting Pitti Uomo, it’s ruined Italian food and Italian culture for me. A client once told me about Jimmy’s food store in Dallas Texas so I told the boys we had to go. Trying to coordinate five different schedules is always a challenge, but we finally made it work and we visited just before had to leave for his next adventure in life.

When I tell you this was one of the most amazing culinary experiences I have ever had, I am not lying at all when I say that. The service was amazing, it felt exactly like Italy, and the food was phenomenal.

Even though Dallas is not a place, I would choose to visit often, Jimmy’s is worth the trip.
