No Gaudy Welsh & Gaudy Dutch actually… Gaudy Welsh, is typically more refined , see the peach and cobalt with gold overlay detail, this is a Victorian mustard castor, while Gaydy Dutch is typically ironstone with brightly painted primitive renditions of natural elements also gilded. Town mouse & Country mouse. Now you know 😊

A little history… This lovely pearlware English transfer finger bowl by William Smith of Stockton is a RARE pattern indeed. 1825-1855 pattern ”Lion” featuring cherubs riding a lion and dragging a goat with a grapevine pattern on the interior. Biblical in nature and speaking to the double nature of those grapes, it, like all transferware, tells a story and a point of view. How wonderful it must have been to dine with someone and be served on their China back then. what a delight each little teacup must have been.

Part of what draws us to Antiques is the mystery of it all! Found this beautiful little statue of the Egyptian Goddess Bastet (about 6"H) made from some kind of heavy stone, with a little cat nestled in the front - age tbd.

"Bastet is probably the best-known feline goddess from Egypt. Initially depicted as a lioness, Bastet assumed the image of a cat or a feline-headed woman in the 2nd millennium BCE. Although she combined both nurturing and violent qualities, her shielding and motherly aspects typically were emphasized."
