BIG Breaking News in the period world. Saalt funded the first study of its kind that looks at the period experience going from tampons or pads to cups or discs. If you’ve ever noticed that your cramps went away or other symptom relief when making the switch you’re not alone. We’ve long wondered if it’s all in our head or is there something more there 🤔 This study answers so many questions and at the same time, begs for more studies to be done. Now we know people are seeing a reduction or cramps. And the study goes far deeper than that. As an advocate for reusables this study gets me so excited and I’m honored that Saalt partnered with me to help spread the news.

There’s a reason I work for myself - I can not wake up early and function. When I realized this about myself I changed my major because originally, I was going to college to teach high school English. Teachers are fu***ng rock stars and they should be the billionaires. It was a hectic day 3 and even more hectic day 4. Day 4 I worked 13 hours shipping orders and prepping for our event, then working it. If I stop too long to think about how much and how hard I work when I’m not compensating myself enough I will cry so I won’t think about that. Living the dream ✨

But I love it. And I love working hard. Always have, always will.

The weekend was so busy I forgot to share the rest of the period vlogs. When I’m working from home these are rather boring 😕

Of course my period would start the day my water is shut off and I have no indoor plumbing! Thankfully I caved and called a plumber who arrived a few hours into the day, after about 20 hours of having the water off in the house. I filled a pot before I turned it off (leaving it on meant the bathtub faucet would be on full force with no way to turn it off, handle broke) and I had clean water to fill my steamer and brush teeth with and wash hands etc. it was worth the $99 (I already bought the needed part) but it was annoying how easy he made the last step look. I still think I could have done it myself but the fear of causing more damage at a way higher cost kept me from really tugging on the cartridge. That’s why he’s a pro and I’m not! My Hello Disc made the day easy and leak free but my cramps were more intense than usual. I had to sleep with a heating pad.

Comment Timeline to get a link to our new feature on the website. If you can’t visit the museum in Asheville this page is the next best thing.

I just got this shipment today and I’ve been so excited for it. One night when I couldn’t sleep I perused eBay (like you do) and this listing caught my attention. It’s important to know that I don’t snap up just any old box of pads or tampons, I have specific criteria if it’s for the museum exhibit. But this box was special and highlights how little was known about the risks associated with prolonged tampon use.

I spent my Mother’s Day creating a new timeline feature in the website which showcases items in the exhibit in chronological order. Items with full digital listings have a link to learn more. If you enjoy learning more about period product history leave a comment with “timeline” and I’ll dm the link so it’s easy to find.

Thanks especially to followers who have supported our museum with financial contributions. I was able to purchase these rare tampons thanks to you! I offered the seller what I felt was a fair price and explained they were going into our exhibit, and was able to bring them to the collection.

I had the entire warehouse to myself early Saturday morning. Period Nirvana ships 5 days a week, Tuesdays - Saturdays. But the warehouse we work from is “closed” meaning the loading docks aren’t open and the mail carriers don’t pick up our shipments. That means we either mark shipments for pick up Monday so you don’t get excited when the email says your order has shipped, or if it’s a lighter day we build in time to drop the packages off at the post office and you’ll see tracking start that day. We try to ship as fast as possible so I definitely like to drop things off if time allows. Usually Florence is shipping Saturdays but she went to Florence and the Machine. Here at Period Nirvana we try to be as flexible as possible for time off. Especially for concerts ❤️
