All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from Steiff-Schulte in Germany.

Asheville is so far west in NC that the SC beach is only 4 hours away, but when it's kite festival time near Kitty Hawk, it is worth the 8 hour drive to the NC coast.

My carving project for the spring has been the human figures for my nativity. The first king is shown and the little shepherd boy will be in my 6/1 posting. The other kings will be out later in the month. My summer carving project is puppies, westie, scottie, maltese and pomeranian to be specific.

Momma bird is very protective now. She is gone a lot to get food for these growing babies but she catches me regularly. There were four eggs but I think only three babies. It is hard to tell.

They certainly fill out the next more and are keeping mom busy looking for food.

The robins are starting to hatch, three so far and either one or two to go. They're squirming just a little. I'm curious to see when they start asking for food.
