Alpaca Wawa was created in 2008 thanks to the inspiration of our designer Gene Castro Castellares. Gene is a Peruvian born designer and entrepreneur who has been working with these precious fibers for over thirty years. She began her education in the art of apparel design at a early age in Peru and Argentina. She has worked in the most important textile companies in South America where she special

ized in peruvian alpaca fiber. Gene Castro appreciated Baby Alpaca so much that she decided to create a clothing line named Alpaca Wawa, wawa means baby in the indigenous Inca language Quechua. Gene's admiration for the Alpaca made her dedicated to design with Alpaca fibers that have been naturally processed to perfection. Meaning that every piece that we sell has enormous softness and durability, so when our customers purchase a garment they can be sure they are getting a perfect piece.
