Although our services have gone virtual, our Rehabilitation team are working extremely hard to continue to provide remote assessments, along with ordering and delivering equipment to our veterans who need our support.
94-year-old Tony was a Troop Gunner in the Army, is living with both cataracts and age related macular degeneration.
Sadly, Tony's sight has continued to deteriorate, meaning that some of the specialist sight loss equipment our team has provided in the past is not longer able to consistently support him to read his mail or newspapers.
But, that doesn't mean there isn't something we can do to help! 😃
During lockdown, Rehabilitation Officer Kate has been working in conjunction with Tony and his family to review the suitability of a ClearReader Plus. This specialist piece of equipment will take a photo of the newspaper, letter, book or magazine the user wants to read, and then reads it back to them!
Tony has described the ClearReader Plus as "marvelous" adding, "It means I can read without any help. It’s lovely and easy to use and I just need a bumpon to help select the right button."
We are so pleased that we could review and deliver this piece of equipment to Tony during this time!
Remember, our Rehabilitation team are still conducting remote assessments, so if you're a Scottish War Blinded veteran and have any difficulties please get in touch with us!
