Well, West Asheville didn’t work. I’m in a really great place in life, being in love and all… And quite honestly, just like all the books and quotes say, when you finally get to that moment you were fearing so bad, the one youn thought would surely end you, it isn’t that bad. It’s more just sad. Sad that we had envisioned a community hub of not just sustainable apparel, but yoga and outdoor classes and love and positivity. But the community didn’t want that. My bullying trauma will always be a part of me and dealing with rejection, especially on a massive scale, is incredibly difficult. Thinking of the few people I’ve hurt or had negative interactions with through Mount Inspiration who will silently be satisfied and say “good” to a failure is a lot to think about and process. But I’m happy I did it and went for it and worked my mother-loving ass off to trt and make it work. It just didn’t. Asheville loves Mount Inspiration but it doesn’t WANT Mount Inspiration. Tourists do. The downtown stores will remain open and we will continue wholesale and festivals and events. My heart is heavy, but the people have spoken with their dollars (or lack thereof). All I know is my buddies Mark Twain and Benny Franklin would be real proud of the ole college try, and that thought is really all I need to sleep at night.
