One of the unexpected gifts of being married to a teacher is that summer arrives… and I have more help. 🤍

For most of the year, Adam is teaching all day while I’m juggling Grey House Goods, Domas Studio, therapy appointments, homeschooling, seizures, and all of the moving pieces that come with our life.

Then summer hits, and things shift.

He’s able to take Pierce to some therapy appointments. He can step in and take over pieces of the day that usually fall to me. And while life certainly doesn’t become quiet, it does give me a little extra breathing room.

That breathing room has looked like spending more time at the shop, rearranging displays, working on new arrivals, and preparing for our big 8.5-year anniversary celebration.

It’s looked like more time at Domas as we kick off summer camps and fill the studio with creative projects.

It’s been lovely. Not because I’m working less, but because I have a little more flexibility to pour into the things I’ve been building without juggling as much.

COUNTDOWN time!!

Assumption & Moweaqua Farmers Market starts on Saturday!!

Our little town is coming alive in a different way.

This weekend marks the first Farmers Market of the season, and I don’t know about you, but that always feels like the official start of summer to me.

People are out walking. Small businesses are busy. Friends run into each other on the sidewalk. There is just an energy that wasn’t there a few months ago.

And then there’s Domas Studio. What has been especially fun this year is watching the studio fill with classes, workshops, camps, and people creating together. Some weekends there are multiple classes happening at once, and it’s exciting to see so much activity in our downtown.

As someone who has invested a lot into building businesses in a town of 1,200 people, I can’t help but feel hopeful.

Because every time you shop local, attend a class, visit the farmers market, or simply spend a Saturday in town, you’re helping create that energy.

You’re helping keep small towns vibrant.
