Our name is their legacy. VINES N KERR represents a lifestyle. The "Country lifestyle" and all of the activities that surround it. This heritage and legacy of genuine country living is our inspiration and motivation to share with others who take pride and enjoy living that same lifestyle. In 1928 John Lawrence Vines and Ethel Albertine Kerr established Vines Farm & Trade. A very successful family
operated farm located in the foot hills of north west Georgia near the Tallapoosa River. Partners in business and in life, John and Ethel were known and respected far and wide for their prosperous farming techniques, expert hunting and trapping skills and for their gracious hospitality extended equally to friends and strangers who frequently visited the farm. Products of "The Farm" included cash crops such as syrup cane, produce and livestock. Other regular activities included hunting, fishing, trapping and sometimes.. moonshining! Clothing was another commodity of the farm. Designed, hand cut, sewn and crafted were men's shirts and women's dresses made with material from sacks used to transfer feed, seed and flower received from the local mill by trade. Husband and wife, father and mother, friend and neighbor all aptly - and accurately- describe John and Ethel Vines, but they were defined in their own era by their sence of style. John and Ethel passionately embraced country living and the rural landscape of mixed hardwoods and pines in the hills of north west Georgia. Their sensibility about life and farm living was as genuine and unique as America itself. The products of the farm that were used at home, sold or traded at the local town mill were certain to be practical, durable and affordable yet distinctive. Now, eighty-five years later, the VINES N KERR legacy continues with a new line of clothing and accessories that continue to deliver on the quality promise made by John and Ethel nearly a century ago. We strive to embrace and preserve the unique qualities of country living and to honor the dignity and distinctive contribution of hard working folks who still know the meaning of "sweat equity". We may celebrate the end of a long hard week somewhere out in the edge of a cornfield just hanging around a bonfire with friends or family. Maybe cruising town in a pickup truck with the right girl on a Friday night. How about the anticipation of taking a big Ol' buck on opening day but taking equal pride just putting some meat in the freezer. And lastly, thinking of Grandpaw's old weathered barn as a sentimental place for many reasons and appreciating the fact that it still keeps the hay dry on a rainy summer night. VINES N KERR is more than a product, it is a way to celebrate and represent a good life. It honors the best of America's past, reminding us of its founding strengths and sets our sights on a new generation of "Country living". Eighty five year later, "The Legacy Continues!
