13FIFTY mourns alongside the Atlanta Police Department following the heartbreaking loss of Recruit Moses Russ.
There are no words that make a loss like this easier. Recruit Russ had already dedicated so much of his life to serving others and was continuing that calling, working toward the badge and a future in law enforcement.
Tonight, our hearts are first and foremost with his family. Behind every uniform is a son, a brother, a friend, and someone deeply loved. While the law enforcement community mourns the loss of one of our own, we know there is a family facing a loss far greater than words can express.
To his family please know that you are surrounded by an entire community that stands with you. We ask our brothers and sisters across the country to keep them close in your thoughts and prayers, not only tonight, but throughout the difficult days ahead.
We also stand beside his friends, Recruit Class #302, academy staff, and the entire City of Atlanta Police Department as they grieve one of their own.
The law enforcement family stretches far beyond department lines. When one hurts, we all feel it.
May Recruit Moses Russ be remembered for the life he lived, the people he impacted, and his willingness to serve.
Rest easy, Recruit Russ. You will not be forgotten.
