Flew to Paris for a parlor built in 1890. Manhattan brownstone, and my client needed lighting that could hold her family's history and her actual life without either one apologizing for the other. Lighting in a home this old isn't decoration...it's the thing everything else in the room answers to. Get it wrong and the whole room lies.

What's the one element you think makes or breaks a historic space?

What does a “good” hotel@room actually support?
Rest? Work? Privacy? Dignity? Escape?
Without an understanding of this, shrinking room square footage comes across as an easy answer to the wrong question.

Just my POV…what say the people??

Jewel tones have been catching strays ever since that emerald-green sofa took over Pinterest. 🤦🏾‍♀️
But the color was never the problem. The pairing was.

Jewel tones love bold company—just not loud company.
There are levels to bold… and all of them need intention.

When you ground color in refined metals, sculptural forms, and quiet undertones,
it stops shouting and starts whispering luxury.

Good texture makes a room feel complete before you add a single accessory, and any good designer knows that’s it is the secret to sophistication.

The bouclé softens the geometry. Brass adds structure and a bit of shine. The mauve walls, embossed velvet counter stools and patterned rug tie it all together so the space feels cohesive, not coordinated.

Texture mixing gives your room depth without adding clutter. It’s the easiest way to make a space look designed, not decorated.

This isn’t just a bathroom—it’s a stage for tranquility. A haven for the artist before the limelight. Gold radiates warmth. Mirrored tiles amplify the glow, enlivening the space. The shower holds its shadow, poised and discreet. Even the wine fridge and glasses fit here—emblems of ritual, anticipation, and arrival. A prime example of crafting WITH light, not merely FOR it. (Can you tell I love to tell a good story?? 😉)
