Did you know today is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday? The sixteenth President of the United States was born in Kentucky on February 12, 1809.

Remembering Abe, 2009 by Barb Vedder, Madison CT

Cotton
Hand applique, machine pieced and quilted.

“This quilt is the result of a challenge with friends to make a Lincoln quilt on the 200th anniversary of his birth. I dug into my collection of Americana and patriotic fabrics.”

Remembering Abe will be on view here at the Museum through April 9, 2022 as part of the exhibition Barb Vedder: My Life in Quilts.

QUILTSIDE CHATS from American Quilt Study Group (AQSG) is a series of lively conversations between Carolyn Ducey, International Quilt Museum Curator of Collections, and an AQSG member featuring the quilt that she (or he) would sneak out of the building . . . if it weren’t a crime.
