I’ve been a big Dolly fan for a while now and loved finding anything affiliated with her while picking. I’ve had a ton of posters, some tour jackets and shirts, autographs, records, and all kinds of stuff. I used to sell them directly from our Instagram.
6 years ago, someone messaged me on here and said they found an abandoned cabin in the woods in Tennessee full of Dolly’s dresses (with her name sewn into the tag), wigs, personal items and over a hundred satin tour jackets from many different touring country artists. They told me they were able to track down that it belonged to cousins of Dolly who used to work for her and they contacted Dolly’s people and asked if they wanted them back and they declined. They asked me if I could appraise them. I told them I couldn’t appraise them but that I was interested and for how cool they were, and an auction would probably make the most sense if no one was claiming them. I was hoping to buy a few pieces but also watching it unfold. The couple who found them ended up getting divorced and the items disappeared and the Instagram was deleted. One piece that that got away was a Jerry Lee Lewis jacket that said “The Killer” on the back.
It was just cool to see everything they found. This video is the only thing I have left from those conversations and featured just a dozen or so jackets from their initial visit, a few dresses, and a wig. Thought I would share. It’s the most fun Dolly message I’ve ever received.
Every interview, every song and every movie, you could tell she was the coolest, funniest, most talented human being and it just made you smile watching her. It’s a huge loss for planet Earth. She lived an incredible life full of positivity and creativity. May she rest in peace! ❤️
