Another lovely Derby Day spent locally! The Live Oak Bar always puts on a great party and guests embrace the opportunity to dress up and watch the big race!

I love it when a hat suits someone so perfectly that it’s immediately worn ~ and the customer walks away with a hat on their head and an empty hat box in hand. Thank you, Aileen, for being the latest Milli Starr fan!✨

Congratulations to on his Best Dressed Gent win🎩 It was wonderful to catch up with him and Candice

Looking forward to #153🏇

I’m trying to make a few favorites in new color ways. This is the “Haidyn” headband in sinamay with hummingbirds. Isn’t the brass gorgeous next to the olive green?!?

Swipe to see the original design in black, as pictured on 📸 .raw

Custom color requests are always welcome. Sinamay straw comes in a wide range or I can dye to match. Always happy to drop swatches in the mail!📫

There’s still time to register for my 2-day class at in McKinney, TX! I’ll be a guest instructor in Jenny’s beautiful studio on September 26 & 27, teaching “Tip Top Sinamay Crowns”

Learn how to block and build a two part crown out of a sinamay straw, a popular material for occasion millinery. It helps to know the tricks and I’m happy to share all I’ve learned in my 28 years as a milliner✨

Scroll through to see some in-process photos from students who took this class with me in Austin in August🪡

Musée des Arts Décoratifs Paris “Paul Poiret: Fashion is a Feast”
Curator: Sophie Carron de la Carrière

SO GOOD!!! The vibrancy of this exhibition and the sheer scope of it (over 550 objects) was extraordinary. The 1910s is one of my favorite decades for fashion and this had some of the very best examples on display plus art, photos and film footage. I’d go again if I could!

“Fashion is a Feast” runs through January 11, 2026

Fashion Exhibition 2 of 6 ~ June 25
Louvre Paris “Louvre Couture Art & Fashion: Statement Pieces”

A huge exhibition but disappointing imo. There was no uniformity in how garments were dressed, no discernible storyline or theme that tied everything together (or the theme of couture and its connection to dec arts was weak) and finding the 65 mannequins felt like a scavenger hunt.

2. Iris van Herpen 1984
3. Jean Paul Gaultier 2008-2009
4. Ceiling

10. Looking up through the iconic glass pyramid. This was about an hour before a massive storm blew through Paris.

I have so many photos from my trip to Europe (especially from fashion exhibitions!) that I haven’t had time to share. But I’m determined to do it before the end of summer. That’s Labor Day, right?!?! So here we go…

Fashion Exhibition 1 of 6 ~ June 23
Rijksmuseum Amsterdam “Suit Yourself: 100 years of menswear, 1750-1850”

Small but beautifully curated exhibition of historic menswear. Photo 6 is of the library, 7-10 taken in the museum entrance and nearby in Amsterdam.
