Round Top, my heart is full. 🤍

This was our first year here, and I’m so grateful for the warm welcome and for everyone who has stopped by to learn a little more about Origin Mexico.

If you’re new here, I started Origin Mexico in 2020 after more than 20 years in the corporate world. As a first generation Mexican American, I wanted to create something that shared the beauty, artistry and traditions of Mexico in a way that felt personal and meaningful.

We started with just a couple of artisans. Today, I’m incredibly thankful that we work with more than 300 artisans across Mexico.

A lot of you first notice the hats. Each one is painted by hand in Oaxaca, one at a time, and no two are exactly alike.

Our Talavera jewelry is made with hand painted pottery from Puebla, and our barro negro pieces come from Oaxaca. Every piece has a place, a process and a story behind it.

That’s really what Origin Mexico is about for me. Sharing beautiful handmade pieces and the people behind them.

It still amazes me to see these pieces finding their way into boutiques, museum stores like The Getty and The Blanton, pop ups like Round Top, and into the hands of customers all over.

If you haven’t stopped by yet, Friday is our last day at The Arbors at Round Top in Tent G.

And if you miss us here, we’ll be at A Christmas Affair® | Austin, TX in Austin, November 18 to 22, or you can always explore the collection online at www.originmexico.com

Hola Round Top! Thank you for such a warm welcome 🤍

It’s been so nice meeting so many new faces and getting to share Origin Mexico in person.

Here’s a little look at some of the handmade pieces we brought with us. Pieces with a story behind them, made by hand in Mexico, and not something you’ll find everywhere else.

One of my favorite parts of being here has been getting to tell you a little about who made each piece and where it comes from.

Did you know that Day of the Dead isn’t just a two-day occasion?
It all starts with love and remembrance, but there’s so much more to it! While the specific customs can vary depending on your region and culture, what truly matters is the warm embrace, honor, and fond memories we share for our dearly departed. Let’s take a journey through the festive timeline:
🏵️ October 27
Light a candle and place water and a small offering like a photo, toy or treat to guide and honor beloved pets who brought unconditional love.
🏵️ October 28
Light a candle, lay a white flower on the altar, and honor lost souls with love.
🏵️ October 29
Light another candle and offer a glass of water, a tribute to the spirits without families to welcome them home.
🏵️ October 30
Light another candle, put out another glass of water and add pan de mu**to for those spirits who were called before their last meal, and those whose demise was a result of an accident.
🏵️ October 31
Add another candle, an extra glass of water, and a fresh piece of fruit to your altar. This beautiful gesture is a heartfelt tribute to your beloved ancestors.
🏵️ November 1
Día de Todos los Santos (All Saints’ Day) is a time to honor those precious souls who left us too soon, especially children. It’s the day to set up your altar with all the delicious offerings, including special treats for your dearly departed to enjoy.
🏵️ November 2
This is the moment when adult spirits are drawn by the aroma of cempasúchil flowers, the flickering veladoras, and the music you’re playing in their honor. They gather to savor the offerings you’ve lovingly prepared and relish the stories of their lives, shared with warmth and laughter.
🏵️ November 3
It’s time to light the final candle, burn copal, and bid a fond farewell to any lingering spirits, allowing them to return to the beyond until next year!

🏵️ Please note:
In Mexico, Día de Mu***os is celebrated with immense love and deep respect, and each region brings its unique touch to the festivities. Remember, there’s no one ‘right’ way to celebrate, but we’re excited to share this guide with you. It’s purely a resource to help you embrace and respect the diverse traditions.

Feeling really grateful for the opportunity to share a little more of the Origin Mexico - Artisan Made story recently, both here in Austin and in San Antonio. 🤍

Origin Mexico started in 2020 with a simple idea and a love for Mexico, its people and the beauty of things made by hand. I never imagined all the places this journey would take me.

Thank you to Great Day SA, KVUE, KENS 5 News and Allison Hill for giving me the opportunity to share more about why I started Origin Mexico, the artisans we work with and what this brand means to me.

If you’d like to learn a little more about our story, you can watch the full interviews and read the articles

Thank you for being here and continuing to support what we’re building. It means so much.

Gracias,
Yazmin

I’ve shared so much of Oaxaca with you over the years, and I’m really excited to finally invite a small group to experience it with me.

We’ll spend seven days in Oaxaca, staying at the beautiful hotel, and experiencing some of the places, food, traditions and people that have made me fall in love with this city.

September 26 to October 2, 2027

The interest list is now open. Comment OAXACA or join through the link in my profile and I’ll send you the details. 🤍

The beauty of the Palmita is in the details.

Handmade in Oaxaca, each top takes days of careful embroidery to complete.

No two are exactly alike, and that’s part of what makes each one feel special.
