Fortress Women's shoes handmade in Peru, using responsible production methods. This led us to bringing these handcrafted shoes to the United States.

In 2004, we discovered our first pair of Peruvian boots while backpacking through South America. The quality of the materials used and the craftsmanship that went into making them were immediately clear to us. Since 2010, Fortress has worked with family-owned and operated factories and workshops to maintain the quality and craftsmanship that first inspired us more than ten years ago in Peru. We al

ways ensure that the working conditions of the people who create our shoes are safe and that they are paid fair wages.

The people who make our shoes are just as important as the people who buy them. When you shop with us, you are supporting the talented artisans we’ve worked with for over a decade. Believe it or not, this kind of shoemaking is actually a dying art. Every year it gets harder to produce shoes this way, but luckily the family workshops we partner with are just as dedicated as we are to keeping this tradition alive. Here’s to the shoemakers.
