This design is only real in my imagination, on my sketch pad, and in this rendering for now.

I thought you might like to see it, anyway.

I have loads of a lightweight polyester fabric from Joann's for lining that people gave me because it's really hard to tame.
This could be the perfect project to use every last bit of it!
There's a technique I've been experimenting with for a few years using bias cut strips as appliques... would work well here. Thinking 🤔...

I was one of those chicks carrying my shoes and wearing white Reebok's from the train station to work in the 1980s. I must have remembered something like this dress in a dream decades later...

So, I made a couple of changes to my first draft design (on the left, shown on my dress form). I prefer longer sleeves these days, but lower necklines.This was the softest stretch knit fabric--lightweight but opaque and dense enough not to show every bump and bit of pudge. It was such a pleasure to work with!

This is the beautiful and talented Laura Madden in a dress we designed collaboratively. She was hosting a sustainable fashion event in San Francisco in 2016 or '17, I believe. She wanted to wear something unique and made by hand with care.
I found this bolt of blue silk dupioni at a thrift store. Both ends had been damaged by water, so I removed the narrow center and used that yardage to create this piece.
We were fortunate to have a great photo studio available in Phoenix. It's one of my favorite creations.

I really like the term, "Advanced Fashion". It usually refers to wildly exotic garments for older people like me. This is pretty tame in comparison, but I love the spirit of wearing whatever the heck you want because you don't care about the fast fashion Machine anymore.

I'm a Star Trek fan, I admit it. I love Mr. Spock, and if I could marry him, I would.
I designed this two-piece set to wear on my first date with him.
This full-length sheath underdress is made with a striped pleated chiffon. The overdress is made with a comfy stretch knit fabric.
What I discovered is that the shaped front panels didn't need any structural help to hold their design, and that surprised the heck out of me!
I'm especially happy with the asymmetrical waistline piping because it reminds me of the little Star Trek communication gadget... whatever that was called!
Anyway, I made this about 10 years ago and never got a good picture of it on a model. I've used a virtual model here so you can see how it looks on someone other than myself (I am definitely not a great model).
I don't use AI to generate designs or ideas for my work. I only use it to show my designs in realistic pictures. Using AI to design feels like cheating, and I have plenty going on in my own imagination...! I'm excited about sharing this image, finally!

Unfortunately, I didn't get good photos of it on my customer. Fortunately, I was able to use AI to show the coat on a virtual model.

This is the back view of a two piece design I created about 10 years ago. I imagined it as a beach wedding dress, and I sold it at my shop in Beaver Falls PA to the perfect customer.
Now I'm itching to make another one, or ten (!), with similar and very different kinds of fabric.
I was never a "girly girl," but for some reason, I'm just dying to wear lace and mother of pearl buttons and streaming organza ribbons.
I wish summer at the beach never had to end... I'll be counting down the days again soon for Summer '27!
